ive heard to run an 086 but reading about and kinda seeing some flatness in the mid range would the 053 be an answer for that and not still take away from the top or bottom end performance?

What plug, fuel %%, head shims, clutch, and how much fuel thru the motor........These motors do not have a flat spot in the midrange with any pipe..so I would be looking at other factors.......tune,setup, breakin etc..... also these motors will take at least 1 gallon to break in and start making good power..

plug - O.S. P3 (had sittin around, got my odonnel 97 in today)

fuel - O'Donnel 20% race

shims - stock

clutch - stock TTR composite

fuel through motor - 6-7 tanks

tune - LSN leaned out about 1/12 and HSN leaned out about 1/8 from factory

temps - 215-230 after a few high speed passes

transitioning from heat cycles to longer run times...

this is where im unsure as to when i can end break-in tuning/driving...

so far it does rip-arse pretty good even now pre-performance tune...

At 7 tanks you should not be doin any high speed runs with this engine!! These are very tight pinch engines and u want to run alot of the metal pinch out of them before race tuning them or stringing them to high RPM. This can take up to a gallon of fuel... AT tank 7 this engine is still VERY fresh. Run it rich and get it loosend up before u start pushing it. You will thank me later I promise

ALso the stock clutch setup is likely not going to do you any favors either...chances are your going to want to upgrade the clutch to something with a little more grip.... A set of Dynamite Max life shoes and some 1.0 springs will do wonders for you..... And as Adam says 7 tanks is way to early to be tuning for speed.... I would wait till about tank 25 to start worrying about performance tuning

ok. i guess i shoulda said highER speed. cuz it was only a little more than 1/2 throttle.

dynamite max life's and ofna 14t vented bell on the way ...

so should i keep heat cycling or can i run a whole tank at once but not full throttle?

run tank after tank non stop... the goal is to run her in...once you do a first few initial heat cycles then its just time to start running the motor...run 5 tanks back to back if you wish... the more fuel you burn, the quicker the motor will loosen up for you
