So far in my limited experience the early single disc works the best all around. I normally worry too much about go and not so much about whoa. I am sure better advice will follow. This is a pretty weak area in my knowledge base. Good luck!! BB

I converted my dual SS brakes to a single SS disc.
Mainly because: a) the second disc has a tendency to hit the clutch bell under certain conditions with a 47/17 gearset. And b) the dual disc setup is useless with the iron "brakepad" between the two discs.

So I just removed one disc and used the middle "brakepad" and some washers to take up the resulting slack.
The truck now brakes much more progressively, instead of just locking the wheels. Total brake power is not affected however.
And I think that one disc is going to last longer when it's not rubbing steel to steel. Plus I have a spare disc now.
Padwear is probably going to increase a little I think, but that's the price of progressive braking I guess.
