Does anybody know where I could find 1/8" diameter Kevlar cord to wind my pull starter with?

I'm sick and tired of pulling my engine out to redo the pull starter...

The nylon bricklayers cord I'm using just doesn't seem to hold up.

they should have some at your lhs, sometimes they're where the rockets are, as they can be used as parachute cords

Get a Roto start and be done with the pull start.

I like the pull start because I definitely don't like carrying more stuff around... I'm just sick of the ripping the engine out every time the cord breaks

And I've got a hopper tank mounted to the rear shock tower, so I cant get in there with a Rotostart shaft anyway.

The rocketry hobby is very little to non existent where I live... so finding a shop that carries stuff like that is going to be hard to say the least.

1/8th inch in dia.???? Ya gonna pull a skool buss wid dat?

Seriously, I think you want smaller diameter cable. And I agree....a pullstart is perfect, "however", during break-in, you can get serious blisters (and with "blood", no less !!!).

I usually use a roto-start. Great for cranky engines during break-in, and great for engines too cold to want to fire right up during cold weather (winter months). So, having installed a roto-start backplate for break-in.....it just didn't make sense to take it back out and re-install the pullstart. Not too bad to carry a roto-start around in your jacket pocket.....but I draw the line at one of those crazy starter boxes....only good for racing, where you never have to move it from the one spot..............

oops...did I digress? HEY..let me know what cord you finally "wind up" using (pun intended), because I think maybe I will go retro-fit some pullstarts............

l used to make kevlar vests for the navy, one strand is as wide and thick as a cassette tape, yet you cannot snap it with bear hands, in fact it will cut you, kevlar cords is a great idea, except, it will last forever, what company whats that ? And it would cost over 100 dollars for the type of kevlar we used, min, it has to be spun together, 100 to 250 strands of it to make a cord, megga expencive ...

Lol... school bus...

No, but I figured I'd take something similar in thickness. That way if it's worn down to 1/3 of it's original thickness, it would still work.

The pull-pull control wires are not really woven, as far as I can tell from the pictures. I was looking for a real woven cord like material.

Mini blind cord is the ticket. I replaced the stock cord on my first LRP spec 3 and the cord outlasted the motor. Second LRP was changed out to mini blind cord before break-in and the same cord is still going strong after 2+ gallons. Most mini blinds come with way too much cord anyway and you can usually scavenge some with out messing up the operation of the blinds.

I'll second that...I have the mini blind cord on my Cen Truggy and it will not break...not too mention it is free since every mini blind has too much cord anyways
