Hi Rezagh,
I have just purchased the new style da 100 for the python. I am planning on using the standard mufflers as we have no noise restictions at our field. At app. 6oz lighter do you feel it will be necessary to move the ign. battery rearward?
Also how do the canisters compare to stand mufflers for balncing?

I don't think you would need to move the ignition battery. Are you going to use spinner?

I have the tru turn lightened p5 I was going to try, I can also get a pete model carbon quite easlily. Do you think the standard mufflers vs cans will be a better choice for balance,or will it work out about the same with cans?

Brad,

Standard muffler is fine. See the nose of the Python is really close to the CG. 6 oz won't make a big difference, I doubt!

Use the tru-turn, it's heavier than the Pete's. You can always use solid back plate, if you needed . Also use CF prop if possible.

Reza (or anyone else that may know),
Will the Python balance out O.K. with a BME 110? The BME 110 is 2 lbs lighter than the "old style" DA 100.

Hello Rezagh, what do you think about test flying the new Pitts Python in 15 mile hr. wind for first flight. I fly pretty good but just wondering. With the DA 100 does cross wind bother it much? I fly that engine in the Chapman 580 Great Planes plane now. My Pythom weighs about 31 lbs.

Hi Richard.

I would suggest that you fly it in a relatively calm day for the maiden.
You have a little heavy set up but should be fine. I wonder how much of this is contributed by your batteries and other componants.

Thanks Rezagh, I will try out the plane tomorrow less wind 5 to 10 mph which is the best we get in Michigan but they say very cold Friday. It is heavy with long mufflers and heavy Batteries. About 2 lbs. for the reciever batteries. Two 3000 ma. Ni-cads.

Hello Ward I flew the plane today and it was very nice. No problems and no bad habbits. I had to slow down the ailerons down very fast for me. My plane is 31 lbs . and it is fast even at half the power, very soft on landing, easy to land and fly. No trim problems. I fly at the Detroit Radio control Club at 27 mile roar and Wederman Rd.

what have you got on board to make it 31 pounds? I thought I was bad at 27 pounds 11 ounces with a DA100 and canisters and the non milled landing gear, but 31 pounds?

Please tell us your set up or post some pictures...

well I would try another scale, I think you might find you are not that heavy. Based on what I see I cant see how I can be so much lighter than you and yet I have more equipment on board!

Maybe I should get a new scale it is almost as old as I am. I could not figure out now I could be so heavy even with a carbon 3 blade prop, 3 lbs of batteries, canisters and the stronger gear eather. The plane fly's good at half throttle. It is a great plane I may buy a second one.

You don't need a new scale. Your weight is about right within a pound based on what I see with your set up. If you are happy with the way it is flying, don't change a thing:) and don't even worry about it:) If you bought a second one, do my set up and you will be below 28 lbs for sure.
