I am looking for a replacement engine for my duratrax warhead. I am totally new to the sport. A friend who just got into the sport also, but flew planes for several years suggested an OFNA, and AXIAL .28. I'm looking for one that would be as close to a direct bolt on as possible, if it exist. We are a couple of 40 plus year olds(closer to 50) laughing like 10 year olds, running our trucks on a round track we built in my brothers hay field. Looking for something with the same power (or more) just not as hard to keep running.

Anything would be better in your warhead than the stock one. Axials are ok but not very fast. A great engine for the warhead would be a Sportwerks .26V2. The warhead has alot of weak drivetrain parts so the sportwerks would be a great match but still wayyy faster than the stock engine. The axial has alot of bottom end torque which I would think it would start snapping things. Most like to use a Picco 28 p3 or the LRP spec 3 but both have brutal torque and really fast. So if you dont want to break something everytime you fgo out I would recomend teh Sportwerks. Its one of the faster engines you can get for the price and still torquey as heck. Any 21 and up engine will be a direct drop in. You just dont want a major powerhouse. Another real good engine is the Losi mach 427.

I think you would be very happy with the Sportwerks .26V2 or the Losi mach 427 gold head. Both very fast and wont tear up your drivetrain.

Also SH makes great engines. The SH 3 port is a nice engine.

I have raced the Sportwerks engines for a couple of years and with a JP1 pipe with McCoy 8 plug and 30% Trinity fuel I have had great success with the engine.

The Gold one has a bigger carb. The gold one has more power. Both are great but the gold one is better. The Sportwerks V2 is the same engine but the carb is better. The carb has 3 different carb inserts to choose from.

I do have it the wrong way around. The Gold head has a 6mm carb found on the M26ss 3 port while the grey head has a 8.5mm carb.
