rotary do u know what this is

so I just started trying to hover with the cp pro, and it seems like when I try to give it throttle to try and hover it kinda tilts off the landing gear to the right, and I have to correct it on the joystick, do I have to trim the porortional trimmer pot? or is it something else

thank you

Hey Def,

OUCH, sorry to hear that! Sometimes, just when you think you have the hang of it, it'll bite ya!! May I suggest that you seriously consider some flat bottom blades? I find them much more stable, and easier to fly with. I found some that I really, really like, from Heli Direct...they are part number HD 1141...they are much cheaper than Eflite's ($8.00 each set), and they are sturdier, and heavier....they add a lot of stablity to my CPP!! They are roughly twice the weight, and that really helps smooth out the cyclic response. They require a slight bit of modification, but it's easy to do...I can guide you through it if you like.

Did you ever get a chance to install the extra flybar weights yet? That is also something that will help alot.

Good luck with your new blade, and don't get discouraged! It's all part of the learning curve!

You may want to check your spindle, to make sure it's not bent as well....just take the small allen wrench provided in the kit (1.5mm) and turn the allen screw in the blade grip with the blades off, it should rotate freely and not make the opposite blade grip wobble...if it does wobble, you have a bent shaft. Hopefully it didn't bend. If it did, it's cheap...like $5...I just did mine today!

Have fun!

Glenn

I have not installed my flybar weights, but prob will soon, and e-flite makes flat bottom blades, I thought they only made the synmetrical blades, what # are the eflite flat bottom blades?

do the flat bottom ones make it more stable then the symmetrical blades, and is it a big difference? I had fun hovering it yesterday before I hit the shoe rack lol

I haven't flown with symmetrical blades on the CPP for a long time. So I kind of forgot what it used to fly like. I fly with symmetrical's on my Belt CP, but that handles different from a CPP. So I can't compare it to a CPP with symmetrical's.

Hey Def,

I personally find the flat bottoms more stable, and easier to fly. The original CP has flat bottom blades. The symmetrical blades are more for 3D/aerobatic stuff, since the blade's curvature will allow for inverted flight, which I know I am not ready for, and I doubt you are either!

I was flying for a long time with symmetrical blades, then I decided to just try the set of flat bottoms in my pit box...WOW, what a difference! Then, I saw a post about less expensive alternatives to the Eflite blades, which are pricey...the stock flat bottoms are like $14.00 or so, depending on where you get them. The post suggested the HD1141 blades, which can be found at Helidirect.com....they are half the price, heavier, which contributes to stability, and stronger than the Eflite ones. I flew them Saturday, and the heli has never been so stable!

A word of warning though, I had a tailboom strike with these on a hard landing. I have never had a tailboom strike before...whether the extra weight of these blades contributed or not, I am not certain yet....so if you want to play it safe, go with the Eflite blades for now, plus you can most likely get them at your LHS, vs. mail order with the HD1141's...plus, they require some slight modification to fit correctly, but it's not a biggie to do...

I will be able to evaluate these blades in the upcoming week, when I have more time to fly inside, which is where I prefer to fly the CPP, it doesn't do too well in the wind, which we are having some of here now...

Let us know how you are making out!?

Have you been doing more sim time...maybe read up on RADD's? Did you get it back in the air to try the trim adjustments for the tendancy to take off to the right?

Have fun!

Glenn

I think im just going to pick up some e-flite flat bottoms at my lhs, I did some trim adjustments and it seems to be alot better, I think its just me not being used to or having no experience really with a heli like this, thats why it seemed to me that it flew to the right. I was flying the heli in like a 4 foot by foot section of my kitchen so thats why I can't really tell, and thats why I alreay broke my blades lol. I havent been on the simulator in the past day or so, only because to me the sim feels totally different then the actual heli in real life, I dont know what it is, but the sim feels alot easier to me, then getting on the heli in real life.

Hey Def,

That is probably your best bet, to get some Eflite flat bottoms for now...they should make it a little easier to fly, but don't expect a miracle. Yea, a 4x4 foot area is really pushing your luck with a newbie pilot with a CP Pro!! I am not sure I could keep mine in that kind of an area! You need a bigger place to practice!

I don't know how your sim is, but in some cases the sim is actually harder than the real thing. On the G4 sim, for example, the Max CP is very, very difficult to fly, harder than any real heli I have ever tried, even a bone stock CP Pro...maybe your sim is different...

Just take it easy, and try to find an area a little bit bigger, or you will be buying more blades soon!

While you are replacing the blades, try to put the extra flybar weights on, it will really help "slow things down" quite a bit...good idea for a newbie pilot, it sure helped me!

Good luck and keep us posted !

yeah I think im going to put those flybar weights on, and im going to pick up a couple sets of blades tommorrw. The simulator I got seems alot easier then using the heli in real life, seems like a big difference. I can hover, and do some forward flight in the sim, but in real life I can barely hover for more then 5 seconds lol that could be also because im in a 4 by 4 area and I have only used my heli through 3 battey packs so far before I broke the blades

thanks once again for all the help

Hey Def,

LOL, yea, it's going to take some time, and patience, and blades! But, hang in there, it WILL get better with more practice, and the flybar weights will calm it down a bit too. Hopefully you are still using the training gear on the heli? That can help save some blades too...

You are welcome for the help, just hang in there! It may take a while to get it to hover in one spot, but once you do, there will be a tremendous feeling of accomplishment!

deff using training gear, not taking that off for awhile, only reason I hit the shoe rack is because it tipped into it and the training gear couldnt do anything for me lol, but I deff am sticking with it, its already a bunch of fun even though I used it for like 20 mins so far lol

when I install the extra set of flybar weights, do I put them close to the other ones already on there?
