Status: offline 		HI guys i have been looking for a nice beginner coax helicopter. Is there anything different other than the tx , rx, and the body? interference wont be a problem.
Also where would you recommend buying it from?

Status: offline 		i would get the cx2. i have both, cx and cx2 and the cx2 seems to fly alot smoother than the cx. you can get it any where on the internet as all the prices are the same. i got my at my LHS, it was cheaper than the internet. good luck

Status: offline 		Get the CX2. It uses 2.4 ghz technology. That all but eliminates radio interference, or having to worry about others on your freq. As stated, it seems to fly better because of the 2.4ghz radio. I have had both. Convereted a CX to a CX2.

Status: offline 		Get either but I recommend the CX as it's cheaper, you won't be using it day to day if you catch the heli bug. You can get a decent CX for $100 or so on ebay, meaning you can almost get 2 of them for the price of one CX2.

While I agree the CX2 does fly a little better, the radio is a little better, both birds have the same non-receiver issues. Blades/Head pops off on first wreck/battery compartment/skids. Spend the additional money on parts and learn orientation. Then move up to a better bird after 1-3 months with it.

Understand I have the CX with all kinds of upgrades(basically a CX2 without the radio) i quickly breezed through the learning curve and gave the CX to my GF.

YOU CANNOT fly either the CX or CX2 outside(solo would say you could, but it takes some major mods and still flies about the same, just outdoors in light wind).

You will spend about a third of your money in parts pretty much withing the first 10 flights.

Recommended spares, others may chime in:

Blades(come in packs of 2 pair of either upper or lower)
Motor
Head(recommend CNC metal after first crash)
Skids
Maybe a battery compartment once it goes, not something you HAVE TO have around but make sure you have access to lhs or internet store.

All this comes to about $40-50 maybe a tad less.

So $100(CX) plus $50 in spares = 150
or $150-160(CX2) no spares

See what I mean? Again if you really take to the hobby, you will be bored fairly quickly with either. Most say look for single rotors with belt drive tail which means, Honeybee King V2/Blade 400/Trex450 in price order.

I said CX in the vote...

Status: offline 		thanks guys. i have found a store on ebay that sells used rc helicopters in good condition and have a good reputation. The used helis they sale don't have reserves so i will probably buy whatever is cheaper.

Status: offline 		I agree with Dunk Yoda word for word. I don't even contest the inability to fly outside. The little bird doesn't belong outside except for the dead calm mornings and evenings (and I cannot resist outside in the dead calm).
The CX with no upgrades beyond the metal head is a great learning tool for the money. I I guess if you keep breaking the aft body section and skids, there are excellent boom and skid upgrades. But that's as far as I'd go with the upgrades.
Then go to a . . . nope, you didn't ask what's next and we don't need to open that can of worms in this post.

I think I already know what i will go to next. I just wish i could afford a blade 400 for a second heli . But sadly, I dont have a job.

The CX-2 is WELL worth the extra money, as it only takes 4 AA's for the 2.4ghz technology that won't glitch, and it's antenna is only about 3 inches long; well suited for indoors.

THE CX will drain Your 8 batteries in short order ($Kaching!) but the spektrum technology, Your batteries (only 4) will last seemingly forever.

It will pay for itself, that and it flys better.

Gary's got a point on the batteries. FYI, I just changed out the 4 in my tx today. (CX2 w/Spectrum) The tx voltage had been reading 5.4v for quite a while now, and I wasn't sure what it was safe to take it down to w/o losing signal. That's after running through 78 lipo charges/flights! I don't know how that compares to the CX tx's battery life, though.

Looks like the poll is heavily favoring the CX2 so far.
