I'm looking for an affordable AC NIMH charger, something under $50 but that hasnt gotten reviews for being crappy. I'm new to RC world, just here for bashing. Any suggestions?

save some dough and get this, http://www.rcslot.com/pc-radio-control-slot-cars/HBS31500.html It's really all you need. 1, 2, and 4 amps charging, and 4-7cells. beeps when fully charged. does the job for me.

I love the Duratrax Piranha Digital Peak Charger. $50, 1-8 cells, .1-3amps (5amps with DC power supply), 10 battery memory, and tons of other features.
I love it! Can charge my nitro's reciever pack (5-cell), glow ignitor(1-cell), both Evader's stick packs (6-cells), both my trucks' transmitters (each 8-cell with different mah's), and other random batteries with just the one charger! Well worth what I payed for it.

You can often find used one's on ebay for $30-35.

Good luck!

It's out of stock, but this is the same charger.

Again, AWESOME charger!

Edit

Mine has alligator clips too...
lol

you can get the 27.29 one, or the piranah, but if I were you I would look up the Dynamite Vision Peak 2 charger. 4-7 cells 1,2,3 and 4 amps charging, 12 volt battery aligator clips and I like how it looks. It also charges both NiCD and NiMH batteries. You should be able to find new ones for like 39.99 or less.

I will second the Duratrax/Tower Hobbies charger.
I have one and it works quite well. I really like the 10 different memory slots. I use it for a couple different NiMh receiver packs and several different NiCd and Nimh stick packs.

I have the Dynamite Vision Peak 2 charger and it has worked great for awhile for me and when I bought mine (over a year and a half ago) it was $50 I think so you could probably find it cheaper now.

Would strongly advice against the dynamite vision peak. My friend has one and its a total piece of crap. You have to sit their and monitor the battery when you put it on charge because it constantly stops charging and keeps needing to be restarted. We thought it was just a problem with his charger, so he took it back and got another one and it does the exact same thing. I have had good luck in the past with the Duratrax Piranah, but I would recommend going with the IMAX B5 or something similar so that you have the option in the future to charge lipos.

The Duratrax Digital Piranha is a good choice. I've had one for a couple of years and it hasn't given me any troubles yet. Good charger for the money.

I just got a Duratrax Pirhana (or however you spell it) and am surprised at how much tech is in that thing. Very nice charger. I am hoping for LIPO chargers to drop.

OK Here is what I can Recommend based on the Options and display Screens

Imax B5

SJ Swallow Advance

Triton JR

they all feature
Adjustable charge Current 0.1A to 5A
Adjustable discharge Current 0.1A to 1A

Now you may have to make your own Battery cables but this is as easy as buying 14 gauge wiring, A pair of Banana plugs and a pair of small alligator clips...
