OK SO on the LEFT is my cooling head and the RIGHT is the cooling head from my buddies revo (not actually his but same concept.)

any ways i bought my 3.3 from the hobby shop and they said that they should be the same any one know why there are so much different? also my buddy said something about a 3.3 with new bearings is mine it?

I see no differance at all....is this a trick question? LOL

MJAsony2305@aol.com -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/12/2008 12:35:58 PM)

no look my head has no milling in it its just a straight down hole.

RCCanuck -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/12/2008 12:41:51 PM)

oh ok I see it now...likely the one on the right is a newer version....it is not uncommon to find little tweaks like that in model lines...it is done to shave more weight.

MJAsony2305@aol.com -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/12/2008 12:43:03 PM)

but the guy at the hobby shop insisted i bought the one to the left due to some sort of bearing malfunctions that happen in the on to the right.?? i dunno i just hope mine is better LOL[:D]

not sure what the bearings have to do with more material being taken out of the cooling head...I would ask the guy a few other questions to gauge his actual experience level LOL.....

I was gonna say; that certainly don't sound like its a "kosher" question to me either...

Traxxas redesigned the bearings and engine heads on the new 3.3's. Nothing is a matter with it you just have the newer version of the 3.3.

So is the head on the right or the left the newest version of the 3.3?

DGMaxx -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/12/2008 7:41:58 PM)

Left is the new head, it got a tweak to help with cooling.

MJAsony2305@aol.com -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 1:56:17 AM)

SWEET so the bearings let go earlier in the other one?

Clymer122693 -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 2:04:41 AM)

^^^It depends on how you care for the engine. Some have blown bearings at 2gallons,I have my first 3.3 and it's at 8gallons and the rear bearing is starting to wear down,I'm gonna replace them when I get the cash.

MJAsony2305@aol.com -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 2:09:27 AM)

oh yeah i do after run and such what else is good?

Kenrico -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 2:35:37 AM)

How do you know when the bearings are bad?by the engine making a different soundor dismounting it and checking them? i have a 3.3 revo and a 3.3 Jato they both have about a gallon gone each. any help apreciated.
thank you ,

MJAsony2305@aol.com -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 2:39:21 AM)

your engine would probably go kaboom if they were completely done.

Soothsayerman -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 2:57:54 AM)

Yeah left is new head, right is old.

They replaced the cheap chinese made bearings with some nicer german made ones so they should roll better and last longer. Particularly the OWB.

Clymer122693 -> RE: Is this normal....(3.3 cooling head) (5/13/2008 4:08:51 AM)

One way you can tell the rear bearing is going out is if your blowing plugs left and right (if your tune is good) because particles from the failing bearing can work there way up to the plug and mess up the coil. I'm not sure about the 1st way but thats what some say,I had my engine torn down and the inner ring in the bearing has alot of slop which would leave me to believe the bearing is about shot. I never raced with my first 3.3,just backyard bashing so that could be the reason why it lasted so long.
