HI,
I'm brand new to the RC world my first car is a redcat 1/10th buggy, my 2nd will be here tomorrow a xtm terminator. I have been RC'ing for about a month now. I notice that there is a lot of oil on the chasis of my redcat after I run her thats about 5-10 tanks. Alot of oil meaning its coated the aluminum plate and dripping down through various holes, a totoal grease ball. The car runs great and I'm having a great time with her. Hence I have already bought a second car. My question " Is it normal to have that much oil or any oil and where should the oil be going. I did notice that the nuts on the exhaust manifold were loose, however there was no play in the manifold that I could tell. I tightened the nuts and added locktite < should I have done that.

Also I am looking for any suggestions on my new car. You know things I should look for common problems.

Thanks

Vlad

You could be running rich, but read up on how to tune first. I am not familare with that buggy, but maybe you can put a 'stinger' or silicone exhaust tube on, to get the exhaust further from the buggy? Overall, the mess is just part of running nitro, it will always be there. When I ran 1/8 scale nitro, I would strip and clean my buggy and truggy after almost every day.

do the normal checks on your new rc. and you should use blue loctite for all metal to metal screws. some oil is normal but maybe you should check the exhaust manifold gasket to make sure it is good. after every run i spray my trucks with wd-40 let it sit for about 3-4 minutes and then use a blow gun from my air compressor and blow it off. it'll keep the plastic real clean and lube the bearings and inhibit rust.

Thank You,

For your replies, It was leaking around the manifold. Cleaned her up and she's running great. Got my new car what a step up for me this car is. Notice a big difference in just the amount of aluminum already in XTM as compared to my 1st car. However would not trade my experience's with my first el cheapo car. Made me a pretty good mechanic. There is something to be said (good) for constant break downs.
