patboone7 -> .46 sized warbird (5/12/2008 5:07:25 PM)

Hey guys, I've been looking all over for a nice 40 sized warbird other than the P-51. I have everything needed from a crash and want a hellcat or thunderbolt. I found a spit over at tower with retracts, but cannot find any reviews. Any ideas for me? I'm a warbird fanatic and if I had more to spend I would get the H9 F6F 60! Anyway I'm dreamin and will probably go with Phoenix Models spit!

Check out Kyosho.

No hellcat, but they have some nice 40 size choices, hien, spit, 109, 190

Tower has a 40 sized Corsair. I had one on electric power and it was a good flyer after I moved the axles forward to stop nose-overs.

best looking one to me was the kawasaki hein! flaps, retracts and working doors!

The kawasaki hein from kyosho? I just can't bring myself to fly axis controlled aircraft. I can justify British aircraft like the spit because we were allies. My WWII vet grandpa would be rolling over in his grave if he saw me flying a hein, zero or me109. Pretty planes, but it a moral dillema. I'm halfway joking, but honestly, I liked that spit from kyosho, but long for a 40 size hellcat or bearcat! Thanks for the links too!

Do you think I could put a pitts muffler on my OS 46 LA to use on the Kyosho Spit?

I don't want that obtrusive muffler hanging out the side, I want it to look more scale.

If you are looking for a kit to build, take a look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/54-Jemco-Corsair-complete-kit_W0QQitemZ250246059982QQihZ015QQcategoryZ19164QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's not a P-47, but Jemco did make some excellent flying warbirds in this size. I flew their Hellcat back in the early 80's. I loved the way it flew.

You could get a VQ Macchi - flew as both allied and axis forces (later in the war) that way you could still fly something other than the P-51. I love the way mine flies!

VQ makes several .46 sized warbirds. I have the Zero and it flies great!

I agree,
I have two Jemco warbirds I fly still today, one a P 47 and the other a Hellcat and both are excellent planes to build and fly. As with that Corsair on EBay, nice plane but a new canopy will have to be made and I also had one of them a couple of years ago and it flew nice. Just don't put it in a snap roll or say "good bye plane".

Hyperion makes a great Ki84 (Frank) that is setup for electric, but is an easy change to go gas. It has a glass fuze and looks great.

My everyday flyer is a VQ Bf 109. Great plane!
