Yes, I've got a copy.
I thought it was pretty good, if not a little bit "campy", but all in all, not a bad read at all. As for the campy remark, after the articles, they had a bit about each author. Sorta reminded me of a nice picture, followed by, "Bambi enjoys Hiking, skiing, and bronco busting" If you get my drift
I'd have picked up a copy at the news stand if it were a "regular" Mag. but I don't know if I'd have subscribed.

The timing of my question was pretty good! When I got home and checked the mail last night, I had a copy of the PPP magazine in it! I didn't get to look through it yet though .

Well, I got to look at it last night, and I must say that considering the PPP is touted as a means of getting people into the AMA, there was a surprising lack of AMA related news in the little magazine.

Other than the two "editorials" in the front the magazine, there didn't appear to be any AMA business. No district reports etc.

Yep, gotta start soft with the AMA*programming at first but before very long the political BS 0f the AMA* members will spill over into this forum along with the AMA members. Hopefully we can shut them down by reminding them they haven't a voice...just pay to play. Brings a whole new meaning to "Just shut up and fly"

I'm sure RCKen will be looking forward to that. Thus we forget these are not AMA's forums, these are RCUniverse.com's discussion forums. But I'm sure as the wind blows that when more Park Pilot Program members show up, they'll receive the same courtesy as was shown for the support of the programs introduction. Until of course they become the dominant sector of the AMA and of course ... the hobby, which they most likely have already become.

Yea, but this is the AMA forum! Not the AMA* Come on stl can't you tell when someone is humorously trying to make a point. Maybe take up a hobby...

If there are 150k in the AMA,
how many non-voting AMA* folks will it take to "Dominate"?

If 50-60k folks without votes want (whoever...BillyHell or anyone else) as AMA pres,
and only 7k voting members want to keep the Incumbant....
I dont think we will be having a change of guard

The Parkie Mag confuses me.
Not only do they continue to have ads for models outside of PPP limits,
now they have a nice reference to PPP folks trying to cutout some of the littlebit of plywood in a foamie to shave oz's to meet the weight limit. Oh, and the soon to be infamous VerySmall Batt To Get Weight Cert. I dont have the mag with me (housesitting), but they used a batt about 1/2 the spec size. Yeah, I'm sure they will never "accidently" use a proper sized batt and go overweight.

CT ( 50%Plane iir) used to talk about folks cutting corners on big birds to get under the 55Waiver... and now we are shown in the second issue of the mag that PPP folks are trying that with foamies.

KidEpoxy,
You forgot the worst part. AMA showing new PPP members HOW to bend the rules. Why set something if all you're going to tout is how to get around it....

Ah well, c'est la vie

Do you seriously think that the limited perks that the PPP's get today will be limited down the road? Come on KE ... the AMA is selling lower price with lower benefits. That will lead only to the opposite end of the spectrum EXACTLY like it did the $58 membership. Remember when MA was optional?

Voting privileges .... only a matter of time. In school we called this a product differentiation marketing strategy .... and this time the AMA has done it by the book, I mean right down to the nuts and bolts. If you don't have the textbook, find one, the Park Pilot Program could be the coverpage for the chapter. Oh and the book says that their next move will be to increase the benefits of both models, but gradually increasing the benefits of the lower product at a higher rate ... check and mate. Remember when the compact car was compact in price, textbook differentiation marketing strategy.

I mean come on guy .... you know how life really works and I know you're not a pizza guy. Not that a pizza guy isn't a respectful job, heck I know a Doctor that is one. Or maybe his first name is Doctor, or was it was Fred??? Either way .... you’re a bright feller.

Sounds more like divide and conquer through incrementalism than differential marketing. You know, get the organization divided by introducing tiers, then detroy the organization as a whole.

A better way would have been to do what was previously done for years, accept all modelers as equal irrespective of what they fly.

Cite Source.
When they were wanting to change my job description from Networking & Integration to "Legacy" Systems Integration, I decided to get out of the land of Neckties BrownAir & GrayWater... I rolled my 401k and live the life of leisure as a pizza guy in the countryside where the deer & the armadillo play. Last year (?? maybe 06?) we declared the excessive FeralHogs as a nuisance so we can shoot on site... heck, in NYC they still wont let the residents shoot the sewer rats.

wow
What a great idea, give the members voting rights. Too bad folks like me & stick and a whole bunch of other guys thought whatever program to draw in the Parkie crowd should make them real members from the begining. So apparently, some day Muncie will figure it out like we did last year?
If this program is not what it needs to be, why run blind WOT with something we know we will fix later.

But stop arguing the PPP existance in this thread!
This thread is about the parkie mag issue,
stop tangenting, smoking the topic, and baiting further tangent correcting your errors.
Post about the MAGAZINE ISSUE in this thread!

King-
Yup, that is why I brought up the mag teaching how to cut "heavy" structure from the foam.
But showing to use 1/2 the spec batt could easily confuse folks into overdrawing smaller LiPos into Meltdown if they are E-noobs (not that any parkie would be an RC novice )

Ok guys, let's get the discussion back on topic of has anybody seen the new magazine. Discussing other issues about who can or cannot vote is off topic and just muddies up the conversation.
