LUAPAUL -> TT-01 with 10x2 Motor and LRP esc (5/12/2008 7:00:35 PM)

Hey Guys

So I am new to the whole electric scene, normally race Nitro buggies
Anyway, I have this slight problem I bought a tt-01 with a 10x2 Method R SV2 motor and LRP V5.1 esc and 3300 battery. Now when the car pulls away it stutters and then once it starts to roll its fine.
I have tried pinion and spur gears and I am currently running a 16T pinion and a 61T Spur and still it does it, and unfortunately I understand this is the smallest and biggest gear ratio I can go on the TT-01. I have checked another motor on the speed controller and it works 100% no stutter, a friend of mine has the same setup as I do and he has exactly the same issue with the stuttering. We have checked the lrp settings ("power setting") plus the diode and caps have been installed on the motor and now we have run out of ideas.
We think it could be a power (battery) or gearing issue anyone have an idea.

Do any of you RC nuts have any idea what the problem with the stuttering may be?

Cheers LUAP

As far as I am aware a 19T pinion was as low the TT-01 could go with a 61T Spur??

Thats really odd it sounds like a brushless system, that happened to me with my new Sidewinder system.

Well, guys i just worked out that the problem is, if i unplug my steering servo no stutter and if i plug it back in it starts to stutter. So yeah going to change it and that should sort out the problem.

Cheers LUAP

Oh and the 16T gear i Modifed to make it fit.

Just had to ask.. but why a 16 tooth pinion on such a low turn motor?
I run a 10t motor also and gear upto 23 tooth pinion (58 t spur) for more top end,surely on a 16tooth your wasting that power of the 10t motor?[X(]
The higher gearing offers less spin out at pullaway and also more top speed etc...

and a ton more heat!

I shouldn't talk.. I'm a highspeed guy with all more cars way over geared (to the point I need an on board temp gauge). I've thermal esc's and shredded motors for long use of overgearing. For someone getting started I would stick with the gearing sheet.
