A few ?'s to help me complete the repair of my b400.

1st one. Where the fly bar attaches to the black plastic. There are two allen heads one for each side. They go down and meet with the flat part of the fly bar. Mine dont tighten though. They just go down to that point and set, any attempt to tighten, just tears up the plastic. On the very bottom (other side of those allens) there are 2 more holes, mine didnt have any allens in them, however looking at the parts diagram it looks like there is supposed to be 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. Anyone have any idea on this?

2nd one. Where the fly bar goes through the plastic part there is a brass washer with the step. Then the rod continues to another plastic part with 2 ball ends. They call it the flybar seesaw holder. Which way does the flat part of the brass washer face. I was told by Support it faces the swing arm paddle, but wanted to double check. I haven't been thrilled by the knowledge of the support people.

3rd one. On to the head block. There are two black screws that go into the bearings of the head block. Problem is they go in all the way and doesnt seem like they tighten down at all. Is this normal. I can turn them with the screw driver and it just turns the screw at some point.

Last one. What is the proper way to install the paddles on the fly bars. the way I see it. You can turn them in and there are no stops so you can have a different distance between each paddle and the center of the shaft. Then once that is set. What is the proper way to adjust the pitch of each paddle blade.

Please be patient, Im new to collective pitch heli's and am learning alot. Thanks in advance for your advice.

1st - Sounds like the screws are stiped out. Replace the part EFLH1424

2nd - The smaller part of the washer faces the bearing.

3rd - Sounds like you need to replace the main frame EFLH1439

4th - The paddles should be equal distance from the seesaw to the paddle on both sides. The pitch should be set to the same angle of the Flybar Paddle Control arms. That is listed in the instructions.

1st one. I think the early B400's came with set screws on the top and bottom of the flybar control frame, total of four. Now they seem to be leaving the bottom screws out from the factory. If the hole for the top set screws are stripped I think you would be OK in using the bottom hole as long as they line up with the flat spot on the flybar.

2nd one. Sorry, not sure. I don't have my heli with me tonight.

3rd one. I've noticed that those screws that go through the bearings into the seesaw holder do seem to strip very easily or just don't tighten well. Last time I replaced my seesaw holder one side tightened up and the other did not. I took the chance and left it as is, no problems...yet.
Try at your own risk.

Last one. I put one side on pretty tight but loose enough to make small adjustments. Then I measure that side and use that measurement for the other side. They need to be as close to the same as possible. The paddles should be level with the flybar control frame. There is indeed a good explanation of this in the manual.

#2, that is what I thought, but eflight tech support said differently. I think you are right however.

The replacement flybar seesaw holder actually isn't tapped out come to find out, there aren't thread in either side of it. Nice quality control. So its back to the hobby store for me tomorrow :(


#4 this will take some time to do right. Ill work on that later. I found the manual section for it. Pretty good.

Plastic parts are not tapped and never will be.

You have to be really careful, they strip out very easy. Make them snug, not blistering tight.

OK, I've been following this thread now, since I just went through the same thing...and now I am confused!?

Regarding question number two, the stepped brass washers on the flybar...let me ask it a different way...which way does the flat part of the washer face, towards or away from the MAIN SHAFT?? Maybe by me wording this a little differently, I can better picture it...

the smaller parts of the washer is what is considered the step. Therefore the flat end is away from the bearing. I will say that this is not what tech support told me. But I don't really trust tech support.

The conical shape faces the bearing so that the small area on the washer meets the inner race of the bearing which the shaft touches.

Yes, I am sure, the plastic is not going to be threaded.

The manual show threads for instructional purpose only.

Looks like I put mine in backwards....doesn't seem to affect the way it flies too much, really. But, I guess I ought to take few minutes and fix it when I get some time...probably a good idea to get it right. I'm going to mark that in my manual for future reference!

ok all issues are resolved. all parts are back together. I am having the hardest time getting the rotor holders back on. When I tighten them down you can't do anything pitch wise withthe blades, it locks them in and they don't tilt at all.

what did I do wrong.

I followed repairblade400.com There has to be something I am missing

yea followed repairblade400.com if i dont snug them really tight its ok. Im getting frustrated, I just want to fly again. i just think those screws have to be tight for what they do.

Yes from left to right here is what I got

screw, washer, torque bearing, larger washer, bearing, blade holder, oring, step washer, 2 spacers.


Then the reverse it the other way.

take out the two spacers and try again, those are for slop only, if you don;t have slop you don't need them.

The two between the step washer and the head.

If it's loose, then add just one spacer to each side and check again.

O-rings are in the wrong place.

Should be ...blade holder(grip), step washer, spacers(shims), o-ring <head> o-ring, shims, step washer, grip

Should be ...blade holder(grip), step washer, spacers(shims), o-ring <head> o-ring, shims, step washer, grip

Good catch, I'd second that....the o-rings should sit in the head.

orings are at the head, i messed up as i was thinking about it an type...

but after walking away for 1/2 hr... I went back and found out I had 2 extra racer channels for the bearing in each holder that I thought I was really up against 1 bearing for the blade holder....so that added 1/4 in of space did it.

These things can be a challenge and thus far everything I have been frustrated with is my own darn fault.

Judging direction from the tail. Im looking at the left side, with the nose forward.


The manual says the small end of the bell mixer should face forward and connect to the swash linkage. Leaving the long end going to the small ball connector maybe 1/2" long... is that correct?

well, im not sure about my last post, but I have the small 1/2" double ball joint on the short side and the long side giong to the swash on each side.

Though that doesnt match what the websites say because the small end is fast the tail of the heli on both side.

Will this be a problem?

I would reference the manual for that answer. You should learn to use that and trust it.
