Hey guys, I bought a used Nitro Stampede with the 2.5r conversion. I was just thinking I need to take some pics.

Anyway, its really awesome and I am excited to learn more about this truck. First there is so much torque it is tough to keep the front wheels on the ground (or even close to the ground). I got a wheelie bar (I think they gave me the wrong one though), but even with a wheelie bar you can't really steer if the front wheels are off the ground much of the time. I don't want to kill the performance because I love how much power this thing has, but what can I do to keep the front down more? Its pretty much impossible to get up to full throttle even if you barely ease into it, at some point the front will lift and usually end up flipping.

Another thing, it seems like the engine is overheating. After driving it for a little while and the engine cuts out or something, it will not start up again unless you wait a little while. Is this normal or a sign that something is wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Stiffening the rear springs should help some, to keep it from "squatting" as much in the rear when you accelerate.

As far as cutting out, that could be either a too lean or too rich condition. Are you seeing plenty of blue smoke? A good idea would be to get a pointer temp gauge to meaure you temps. They shouldn't be going over 270 or so, else, you're definitely overheating and probably damaging the engine.

As far as the "overheating" goes; if its hard to re-start when its warm and after it dies like that; I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is possible that the piston and sleeve may be slowly on their way "out". Even if it shows signs of having a lot of power, the fact that it dies while warm and is hard to restart tells me that its a piston and sleeve thing....

to stop wheelies, you SOFTEN the rear springs so they dampen and it squats, this way the chassis does pretty much what a wheelie does, but the front tires are still on the ground...

another thing you can do is move any radio equipment to the front that you can, get more weight over the front tires
