I know that the X2 isn't out yet, but. This is for next season. I am going to replace the X1 with something and I like these 2. Can anyone give me some pros vs. cons of these 2 truggies. Even though the X2 talk will be speculation I am wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with this rig??

I run the ST-RR and I love it, having said that the x1 is still a very competitive truggy so any improvements they make will probably only make it better and faster. You'll just have to wait till it comes out and see which one gets your attention more.

I can tell you that the closest thing to the X2 would be the X1 with the BCE PJX chassis.

The difference in handling is NIGHT and DAY.

I'm no pro driver and just got into truggy around Nov 07 running the X1.
I had a hard time getting it around the track, no matter what I tried set up wise.

I bought the BCE chassis and did the small gear conversion and it's a totally different truck.
I went from an also ran to podium contender with these changes.

Many have speculated that the X2 is based on the BCE chassis arrangement.
I won't agree or dis agree with that statement, but I will say that the current trend in truggy design is to shove all the weight foward.

Look at the 8T, the ST-RR, MBX5T Pro-spec, etc...You see what I'm getting at.

If the X2 handles as well or better than the BCE deal on an X1, I'm all over that.

Not to take anything away from the ST-RR, it is a nice piece of equipment.
There are several guys running them around here and they all do well.

Seems to me like there is a LOT of 'flavor of the week' buying strategy going on these days.
Every time a new buggy/truggy/gas truck hits the market, people buy them up and rave about how much better they are than what they had and everything else is junk now.

I'm seeing that about the RC8, since the release of the X Ray 808 buggy.

Maybe these folks are doing something better than I am, because I can't afford to jump ship 2-3 times a year.
When I buy a buggy/truggy, I also buy a ton of spare parts. Enough to build another car/truck if necessary.
It's overkill to do it that way, but I would rather lug all those parts around and be able to fix whatever I break, than to get sidelined on race day because the LHS doesn't have what I need in stock.

Food for thought.

Well said.
And then there's the folks that have to ask for opinions, which to me matter less on Internet boards than they do in a face-to-face conversation where they can show you things. But ultimately its that -
I keep seeing so many threads started where people ask WHAT SHOULD I GET?
And the question is tantamount to going into a BaskinRobbins and taking a survey there as well; you'll get a lot of replies, but chances are nothing YOU will really like like mocha bubblegum raisin chocolate chip dipped in dogdoo. You've got to live with your decision now, and in the long run, and while you'll likely get a ton of responses you are the one that will have to live with the decision you're asking others to make for you. Get yourself educated on what you're getting, and not the second-hand opinionated education thrown at you by others that aren't paying your tab.

I forgot to add the most important piece of info I ever learned.

Racing RC is 90% driver and 10% car.
All the $$$ in the world won't get you around the track with consistently fast lap times if you lack DRIVING ABILITY.
You can try every setup known to man on any particular car/truck, but if YOU can't drive, it WON'T matter.

Practice doesn't make perfect, but it'll get you pretty darn close.

If you are unsure about buying 'whatever' brand, don't be.
They ALL have good and bad points and they ALL break.

The X2 or the ST-RR, either one will put a smile on your face.
Isn't that what it's all about?

Having said that, buy what YOU like and go get it dirty.

I really like my ST-RR and I liked my BCE PJX (When I had it) and the X2 is basically a BCE PJX as far as handling goes..(this is straight from one of the team drivers) The parts for the X2 are going to be cheaper, Kyosho is very proud of their stuff..lol..as most have said you'll be happy with either one..plus they dont drive themselves..lol

The ST-RR is very forgiving i wheeled one for abouyt 20 minutes and it was a amazing feel you could throw the truggy anywhere you wanted and everytime it came out clean and at full pace i hope the x2 is like that because it will be a amazing truck
