Guys, Just a quickie question really. The Hellcat needs to be balanced at 5 1/4 inch's back from the leading edge but to get this I had to add a ton of lead. OK, not literally [:)] but a fair bit and it's coming in a bit to hot for our very short field. I want to take some out but don't want to upset the CG to much as it flies very nicely. I know it's been out a while but some of you guys must still be flying it? What's the most I can move the CG forward and still get a nice flight from the Hellcat?

If you think its nose heavy, then you want to move the CG rearward, not forward. I dont recall what the manual said(I did have this plane), but the CG in the manual seemed fine to me. But, you can move it aft maybe 5mm to help with landing speed....BUT....be careful when moving CG aft as it will make the elevator more responsive. So, you might want to input a little more expo on the elevator and you may need to tone the throw down slightly. I dont think 5mm is going to cause a severe problem so test it out first with your settings as they are(add maybe 5% expo though)

Just wanted to say I have many great flite on my H9 Cat (my 1st. warbird with retracts). I have a Saito 91 4strk in it and used a 2000mah 4.8v Hydrimax battery located next to the tank and it balanced out right at the CG shown in the manual. Early in the AM when there is no wind to land into at our field she does come in alittle fast and I usually two point the mains then it settles on to the tail. If I hold the nose up and get a good sink going it will slow down pretty good. Later on when there's some wind coming down the runway I can get her to float down and three point real slow just like she's catchin a wire on the flite deck[8D] Hangar 9 did a good job of designing a rather thick wing with good wing loading especially for a warbird. I get lots of compliments at the field about how good that Hellcat flies. She is a sweet flyin plane [:D] Scott
