What a difference a half an hour makes since I last posted to this forum.
I took my new Belt out for a spin. Two minutes into the flight, 25 feet off the ground, and poof.
A big puff of smoke, flames, and the whole thing comes crashing to the ground. Wish I had it on vidio. (Yeah, just for you nutcaze)
Not much left. what the fire didnt destroy, the crash did.[:(][:(]
Fortunatly, Raiden tec is going to make good on it. I spoke to Tammy via their chat room. Sent an RMA number. Gave me the choice, new bird or my money back.[:D][:D]
I am gonna take the cash and RUN!!
No way do I want another one of these. Nothing but greif all over this forum

oh you left the stock esc on it [X(] Crap too bad, get a HBK II, I think you'll like it alot more, I do, my King's are great to fly, where as I have a kinda love hate relationship with my Belt CP, "I love to look at it but I hate to fly it"

I mean really. Whats the point. The Tx/Rx on them are junk and need to be replaced. the gyro and esc are completly worthless. The motor is marginal and the servos are only worth 7 bucks a piece. So for $200 what do you get? More junk. A plastic frame, a plastic head and tail, and a drive system that everyone else has problems with.
For the same $200 I can have a copterx se-v2 shipped to my door. Carbon fiber frame, full cnc head and tail. Then for the money I would spend replacing all the junk on the Esky I can spend the same for the copterx. In the end with the Esky I would still have a piece of junk.

Not sure what's going on here as I've never had any problems with either of my belt cps. One has stock esc and the other has align but for $200 that's what you get. Sure the copterx is $200 for the frame, put on good electronics with a good radio and you're over $600 easy.

I believe you can buy a carbon fiber verison of the King ll that is bare bones or you can buy a ART bare bones King ll (plastic frame) like what you "had" and add your own whatever to make it "custom" No tx or rec I think it comes with a motor servos and plastic head and thats about all.

Yeah. Thats my point. Its pretty close to what it costs to upgrade a Belt CP just so you can fly it. $210 for the belt cp shipped. $250 for a TX/RX. $40 for a decent ESC. and $60 for a new Telebee HH gyro. Total- $560.

well, I'm an ESky fan myself, so I just ordered a Belt CP ARTF for $90, have too many spare parts with no heli to put them on [:D]

$680 Two descent heli which are able to do 3d already.

I guess I could've gone with a descent trex and have it down on one day and spend about a grand just to learn how to fly...

+Spares: 260 [Cause the servos and other electronics are so expensive]
Tools: 40
Total: $1000 One heck of a good heli

We should stick with Esky unless we're really good.

What i don't understand is why you would buy a RTF belt cp if you're going to replace half the parts? Just buy the barebones, put on hitec servos, your "decent" esc, a motor, the telebee gyro and the radio (or get a complete radio and use those servos). it would cost less and you'd have the components you want.

barebones kit $90
hs55hb servos $36
motor $40
esc $40
gyro $60
dx6i radio $180

total $446

I don't put the belt cp in the same category as the copterx, why would you compare a plastic heli with an aluminum/CF one?

the parts I put above are not the same ones I'd use in a copterx as it can handle quite a bit more 3D. If I was building a copterx it would be over $600.

To echo what Druss said, start with a good ARF kit and set it up according. With the DX6I on the market under $200 you can build out a great heli at some super decent pricing. I fly a blinged up HBKII, kitted out with all the goodies, CF boom, fins, Hitec and Futaba servos, she is just over $400. Now my CopterX, HS65MG's, Futaba S9257 tail servo, telebee HH gyro, AR6100rx, running stock copterx motor and esc comes in just a little over $500. Both of these started as barebones kits, then I kitted them out with components that reflect my flying style.
If you have the funds ARF is the way to go.

Druss, your missing the point. If you buy a Belt CP RTF you HAVE TO replace half the parts. They are no good. Thats why im peeved. I got screwed.
And if you are going to buy a bare bones kit for $90, Why not spend $100 more for one with a carbon fiber frame, carbon blades, cnc head and tail. No matter what else you would buy as far as parts for the Belt bare bones kit, they will work just as well in a copterx.
So for $100 dollars more you can have a heli thats as good if not better than a Trex.
Thats not my opinion. That comes from guys that own both the Trex and a Copterx. Just read their threads.

If you read through my post you would note that I would not put the same components in a belt cp as I would a copterx... show me someone who's going to put a telebee gyro into a copterx... what would be the point? and NO my stock belt cp flies fine, still does, no parts have been changed on it.

I've got a lot of heli's and 3 of them are 450 size, none of them use the same electronics. Each are for different purposes, one is a trainer, one is a scale and one is a 3D machine. I think your expectations of the belt cp are too high, replace the esc if that MUST be replaced but why touch anything else? The gyro and other electronics are perfectly fine for the purpose of the belt cp which is a trainer, not a 3D machine. That's why it costs $200, so add the esc and now it's $250. Guess what? Get that $550 copterx and you know how you're going to fly it? You're going to protect it like it's the crown jewels, you won't want to scratch or damage that beautiful machine, all that carbon fiber and shiny aluminum...

I don't know why anyone would buy a $200 machine then get mad at it for not performing as well as a $550 machine... if you buy a pinto should it perform as well as a mustang?

OH I'm getting bashed :) Druss, I'm putting a telebee HH Gyro on my CopterX. Why wouldn't I, I'm not at level of doing 3D, hell I'm still getting lazy 8's figured out. Why would I put a GY401 on my CopterX when a Telebee will do what I need it to? Hold the tail while I'm learning, when I'm ready for some aggressive flying I'll bounce up to the big gun.

not trying to put you down stumper but you probably aren't planning on leaving that in there long term either.

I think the point I'm trying to make here is that the esc is probably the only thing that needs upgrading. If you only have the one heli and it's a belt cp you may be disappointed with it as it doesn't perform as well as the higher end helis.... well the POINT is that it's not supposed to. Sure the stock Tx sucks, the servos aren't that strong and strip (so do the ones on the blade 400), the gyro is rate not hh, etc... well guess what? 10 years ago you'd spend a MINIMUM $1500 to get into the hobby, parts supply sucked and there was no one around to help you.

These cheap RTF heli's let you get into the hobby and show you what is possible, they are TRAINERS... USE them that way. A tri-cycle is not a mountain bike, a pinto is not a mustang and a belt cp is not a trex...

For 200 bucks I would expect to get more than a total of 15 minutes flying time out of it before it fell from the sky as a flaming piece of cow pie.

For introduction to bigger ARF machines there is an economic solution, that's basically the tree I was barking up. Your absolutely correct in that once my skill level demands more of my machine, upgrades will come. Thus the main reason for the HS65MG's, I'm going to eat it a few times and the 65's will take a beating as well as perform. Kind of two fold solution there.

lol, guess what, if you think esky is the only company that has quality problems think again. the trex 500 costs over $500 for just the kit, carbon fiber but mostly plastic head... problems discovered with static build up on the tail caused many crashes of helis that were worth over $1000. Be glad yours was only $200.

Flying flaming cowpie, man I would have paid money to see that! Your right in that the Belt shouldn't have done a celebrity blow up on you. $200 bucks for 15 minutes of fun is pretty steep.
