Hi,

I've been flying RC heli for a little while now. I started with a Blade CP and I crashed this little bird MANY times, but I can now fly my TREX 450 SE v2 around in some slow forward flight. I am pretty comfortable hovering in any orientation and I can fly circuit 8 and some basic forward flight without any problem.

On the simulator, I can do some flips, rolls and inverted hovering without any problem and now I feel like I should try some basic flips and rolls on the real thing, but I didnt get the nerves yet to try it for real.

What do you guys thing? Considering my experience so far, am I ready to try some basic 3D ?

What did YOU guys do? When did you first flip or roll the real bird?

Thanks!

I think you're ready. Start with the basic stuff and master that...then go for it!

a flip is easier than a roll in my opinion.

i thought i was ready until i put my helicopter into idle up. that was a little unnerving to be honest. i just stuck with my fast forward flight and fig 8's for the rest of the battery!

i feel like im on the same kind of level as you magimat. I just got my trex all set up how i want it and im very comfortable with it now and im considering trying some backflips soon to start with because they seem quite easy to do on the simulator. Dont forget to keep some altitude so if you screw up you have a chance to recover, and check your thottle pitch curves for 3d.

Also - remember the safest way of all to find out - get yourself on a buddy box with a good flier, get some height and try it.

If it all turns completely bad - at least you can relax while the other guy crashes and you get to watch the crash

your ready. the key is hieght and being able to save your hyde when things go wrong.

i cannot hover in all orientations [well] or do 8,s clean on my heli [i can on the sim] but i can do rainbows, front/back flips. staionary rolls, rainbow rolls inverted nose in hovering stall turns ect

just get out and try youll get a grin the first time

Yep go for it!

Get up high and try some loops. Then progress on to flips and rolls.

Yeah just get up high and go for it. Thats what I did and had no problems for 3 months until I landed inverted one day on accident
The point is you will never 3D unless you try it.

Thanks for your good words guys... I actually finally did it just yesterday... I did as you all said and got to about 40-50 feet high... then I proceeded to a moderate speed forward flight and just pulled back on the cyclic !

Everything went just fine.. I actually even did 4-5 loops before landing :-) Now the ice is broken, I will just have to keep pacticing and get better, but my first time is now behind and I couldn'y be happier about it!
