Controlaire control system up for auction.

The one thing that is more stupid than paying alot for an old radio is making stupid comments about those who buy them. Maybe when I get my foot out of my mouth I'll be able to speak more clearly. These old radios mean alot to some people, they are part of our past and bring back many fond memories of a simpler time which will never come again. But at least you can have a physical token of that time, which is the next best thing.

RCBOB knows all the old timers, and has fixed more vintage radios than he can remember. I am fortunate that he is a man of true character, and have in a clumsy backwards sort of way gained a friend. I you need a vintage radio fixed, this guy has seen it all, beleive me he is a real expert and an asset to our hobby. We are lucky to have him around, as many have left this world. Besides, how can you not like a guy who has his own paved model airplane field in his backyard?

I have yet to see a W.S. Deans 10 or 12 channel pop up on Fleecebay. We had a 12 channel years ago when we first got interested in RC. My dad sold it for one of those brand new (then) Orbit proportionals.

The reed simulated reed transmitter probably contains the encoder board that was developed by a chap named Ron Ellis.

He says it has an ACE RC RF deck and that is not correct. It has a Fred Marks (FMA) RF deck which is the same as the ACE except it is SMT and was redone by Fred long after ACE quit. As you know the original ACE deck was also Fred's.

I have seen people fly these at vintage fly in's.

I have a complete Controlaire 10 channel reed system with receiver and Controlaire servos that may go to eBay sometime. I am not brave enought to try it!
