jentzsch -> Herr Clound Ranger Build.. Few ?? before I begin (5/14/2008 5:39:58 PM)

Right now I am just looking for the very basic build tools, ie glues, epoxies, etc.... and will get the covering, fuel tank and other items as I progress with the build.

However, in the specs area for the plane, it says that I need servo connectors. Is this what they are talking about:

Also, I want to get a good engine for the plane, not to powerful, but not underpowered either. Any suggestions as to a good match. I live at ~4,330feet. I say that as I hear there is ~ 3% power loss with ever 1k feet in altitude and want to make sure the take that into account with engine selection.

I was thinking of the OS .10LA

Thank you for your help.

Everything you'll need will come with your radio system, unless you build it with ailerons. Then you'll need a y-harness and an servo lead extension. An OS .10LA will be a good match for that plane.

Jentzsch, I looked at it and it's just some crazy TowerTalk where they throw in something completely out of left-field in and as useless as listing the control throw recommendations in the product description. I'd say though that you should go with a lighter weight engine other than the O.S. LA .10 and instead go with the AP .61 or the ThunderTiger GP07 which are more appropriate for this design if you're just starting out in flying RC and using micro sized servos with it and the smaller battery pack, keeping things very light etc. You might want to see the plans first before you decide though.

The one I have would balance perfectly with a 10LA (I'm just using an MPJet .061 to be contrary).

Ok, if it does then go for it, it's a lot of wind though.

Well who was it that tried to fly some big Lazy Bee with a .049 recently?
I hate to see planes suffer in flight.....[&o]

Hafta call Carlson and find out if he has any MPJets left. It flies just fine on one, but it's not overpowered - it flies exactly like the trainer it's meant to be. A .10 would haul it around very well.

Hey CP! It's a .074 Queen Bee. So it has the power of a .049[8|]

I got side tracked and that actually has not yet flown... I will have to finish that just to say I did then put it up. I have way to many projects going right now.

Stang, pardon me if I dissed her highness, the QueenBee. I would wait for the grass to get chest high before trying that combo out.
