best bet is to use the stock setup, they are 12mm hex, have the metal ring that reinforces the hex. Just my .02

You're talking about the MegaP, right Eddie? I thought it used the 17mm hex similar to the other 1/8 scale models. I'm probably wrong.

I used Traxxas Stampede wheels on my 1/10 truck and I'm not that impressed. The hub is very thick and doesn't leave alot of threads showing on the stub axles unless you modify the wheel, plus I chipped the rim on one in my first tank. I'll probably trash them and get something else when I do. I do love the ProLine Gladiator II tires, though - I got the M2 compound because I wanted them to wear a bit longer. They're much more stable and responsive, grip all surfaces that I've run them on better than the V-tread stock rubber, and they don't baloon like the original ones did.

At the same time I switched to the aluminum drive hexes from the crappy plastic ones - what an improvement! You can crank on the wheel nuts now without fear of them coming loose or locking up the wheel.

no bro, there 12mm. not many 1/8 mt's use 17mm, most like the tmaxx and savage use 14mm. They make adapters to convert 12mm to 14mm so you can use tires for a tmaxx or savage but i really like the design of the megap series rims, on all the models, they have a ring than surrounds where the rim goes on the hex adapter and gives it added strength. I havent heard of anyone breaking a rim yet, unless they hit something at a high rate of speed.

i was just wondering if himoto had a different style of rim from the ones i have. i like the setup for how they mount and that metal ring around where the hex goes into the rim is a great design. i was also wondering if they have another tire tread that fits that rim as well. i'm not big on chrome wheels. thats why i asked the questions i did. and also for anyone else who might be kind of curious about this as well.

ranger.....
I believe that Himoto Does have another Tire for the MegaP 1/8.
There is a Picture of it in my MANUAL....p/n HI904-002. It is a PIN style Tire.

I'm with EDDIE.... I LIKE the STOCK look/performance.

However, I am going to do some Research on this Subject, (I've had some PM requests about this) and I will Post some INFO within the Next Few Days for you guys........

your the man rich, i love the stock size i wouldn't change that at all. just the style of the wheel. and the tires are about the best i have seen for grip, they bite hard and dig real good. even on pavement which surprised me because of the tread pattern. i was thinking of having maybe a second set as a backup and for variety....ok so i also want to have more toys for my truck lol. but i noticed that running those tires on pavement they do wear very fast and i think my foams in the tires are almost done too. i heard somewhere that using memory foam in them works good. is this true?

I think memory foam is better for rock crawlers, and standard foam is good for speed.

ok gotcha memory foam for crawling. the foams in my 1/10 viper are pretty shot too. but i know i ain't gettin those tires off the rims in one piece. same as my mxt tires. do the different colors mean anything in the foams? like hardness or softness?
