Hello all I am thinking about putting a gas engine in a 1/5 spitfire that i am building. My question is I am know how spinner hooks up the cone to a glow engine no problem. But with some of the Gas engines there is a bolt instead of a nut to tighten down the prop with. How do you guys solve this problem with the attachment of the spinner to the backing plate?

I don't know about all gass engines but my DA has 4 prop bolts and the crank shaft is drilled and taped for the spinner bolt [:D]

The same hole or holes that go through the prop will have to go through the spinner's backplate. My engines have small diameter bolts (4 or 6 depending on manufacturer) that go around the prop hub. An adaptor is usually provided that has both male and female threads. The male end screws into the crankshaft centerline and the female end can accept the bolt that retains the spinner cone. Pretty simple, really.

Mine has a Zenoa in it with a single prop bolt. I use 10 (4-40) bolts on the backplate to hold it on. It works good, but takes a while to change the prop.
