GNZkrew, Tom at Valley View is a great guy. I have purchased a 50cc airplane and many props from him, although my DL-50 happens to be from Bob at DLUSA.

Here is a link from Bob regarding the warranty: http://www.rcaerobats.net/GAS_ENGINE_INFO/dl_50_engine_warranty_informatio.htm

Both Tom at Valley View and Bob are good guys to deal with and responsive to emails.

I think it would be a great idea for all of us who sell DL Engines to work together and make sure everyone that has a DL engine get service form anyone of us.

Tom,

Sounds like a great plan. I expect all of us owners would benefit. I hope you and Bob can pull it off.

just put in in writing talk is cheap, DLUSA have it, you'll see it, just do the same but you last statement do not cut it. I don't want to be rude but bussiness is bussiness, and talk is cheap.
If someone give me one year warrantie I take it. Brillelli have a exelent customer service and warranty, one of his engines broke the main shaft from the pedulum clean, my engine just shoot off in fly and the airplane crash. I call scott from brillelli and I explain what happen, my engine was with one day of expiration of the warrantie, scott told me that this phone call activate the warrantie, I could not bolived, with hours of expiration and this man just honor the warrantie by phone. I got a brand new brillelli 15 days later. that's service. He got my loyal bussiness forever. DLUSA is doing the same with his customers but is in writing no talk. One's again no to be rude, but this is real.

A regular 9/16" spark plug socket/wrench works just fine. Don't overtighten. Set the gap to a #11 Exacto blade, about .020", not real critical.
The low end is set quite rich from the factory. It will start and run, but will be extremely rough. Lean it down a little at a time, after it's at full operating temp. DON'T over lean either needle, and DON'T run synthetic for first runs (my opinion and experience with several DL 50's)
It loves the 27 x 10 and idles very well.

I'll be putting first flights on mine later today, so I'll report back, but I have no reason to doubt it will be anything less than stellar.

I think you missed Tom's point. Toms idea sounds like a gentlemans approach, and a good one at that.

Well, here's the report.

EXCELLENT!

Couldn't want a new motor to do anything different than this one is doing right now. It *almost* is ripping the JXF 27 x 10 (or maybe it's my imagination; but at full bore it has that 'sing' to it)

It is just absolutely great. Transitions clean, midrange is not burbling, rich, or anything else. Doesn't vary with attitude.

Other than a hesitation on takeoff throttle up, which clears on rotation (probably still rich low end), it is just perfect.

Really couldn't want anything more. Didn't tach it, don't care or need to. It pulls this Ultimate straight up as long as I want it to go.

Sounds great Bob . .

Are you putting a report with pictures on your "World Famous" website?

Cheers, JB

PS. have you got an all up weight for the Ultimate? ALSO . . don't forget to get the "fishing scales" out and get those thrust figures, if you can get a chance

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, I plan to do a piece on both the DL and the Ultimate on the website. Although the Ultimate isn't "new" (sold by AW in 2006), it's still out there from World Models, but doesn't seem to get much press.

I'll get those weights, for sure, and post back.

The Ultimate *dry* RTF weight is 26 lbs. 8 oz. To me, this sounds pretty heavy, but the engine doesn't seem to notice, so I guess I'm good.
