jaymen -> Controlaire GG-2 Transmitter mod for Peter (5/15/2008 4:31:59 PM)

Peter, remove the board on your Transmitter, and if it has the 100 ohm and .01 cap, remove them, repalce them with a jumper. Transmitters with these parts were kits, and had the mod to make them legal to be built without an FCC license by anybody. Once these parts are removed and jumpered, the output power jumps way up past the license free 100 milliwatts limit, and increase the range significantly. I forgot to mention this before. Many thanks to Bob, Bob, and Bob for this information. (all the good guys seem to be named Bob!) I did a post on this before, but replaced the 100 ohm with a 56 ohm, which was a adequate power increase. Bob G sent me a schematic set for all the Controlaire GGs, and it then became apparent that the resistor is not used in the earlier, and non-kit factory built versions. RCBOB then told me why this was done, it was so it could be legally sold as a kit and comply with the FCC regulations.
