Status: offline 		I just bought a 35% Edge 540 and I was wondering which engine would be the best one to buy, I was debating between the DA, ZDZ, or 3W engines. The other question I have is what size would u recomend, the plane is rated for 80-100cc, cause I don't want to overpower it.

How much is it suppose to weight?
Are you building it stock?
What type of flying do you plan on doing?
Which Edge is it?

Status: offline 		The plane is already together w/o engine weighs 20 pounds, I'll be doing 3-D mostly, its an Edge 540T, not sure what kit it is

Status: offline 		Well DA100 or 85 are going to be both good choices.... 85 will keep it light and have more than enough power.

Status: offline 		The new BME 115. Tons of power and lighter than the 85. A little more money but you won't be needing to step up in engines if you go to a heavier airframe.

DA is a good choice as well but why settle for less than you could have? If going with the DA 100 you'd be spending the same money for less engine, more weight, and less power. If the 85 it would be less money, more weight, and less power. With a 3w 80 and would be more weight, less money, less power. With the 3w 100 or 106 it would be the same money, more weight, and less power.

If you care about proper support and service, it's hard to beat the new DA-100. It's 6oz. lighter and provides 200 more rpm with a 28x10. If you can use a lighter engine with slightly less power, the DA-85 is a good choice with a 27x10.

Status: offline 		My vote is 3W-106.. I have been very pleased with mine.. It has run perfect from the first tank of fuel and is only getting better...

Status: offline 		Their website says they are in stock and shipping. Not a lot of news regarding them, but have heard they have reed block mods in place.

Status: offline 		The corrections required to resolve the old carb issues are 100% complete and in production. Every owner of one of the previous 115's can obtain that fix for the cost of shipping. The new engines will be OEM equipped with it. No worries.

I've spoken with Andy extensively over the past few weeks and everything sounded like it was good to go. Enough so that I recommended the 115 to a uas manufacturer.

I've had a BME. I found the company not responsive to mail, calls or anything related to service. There was also a cost associated with replacing the prop hub to one more proper for large props (six bolts). After hearing about the issues with the 115, I decided to stop using these.

They are light and supposedly powerful, but I need to able to get proper support when needed. So back to DA it was...

Status: offline 		Yep, the old horse is dead. To complain about what took place with the original owner while failing to note the new ownership along with imporovements being incorporated with the new line is grossly unfair.
