Waited too long, can't get them. Should have ordered right away. Have 2 new converted heli engines with head conversions but no head gaskets.

They will be used in control line application.

Are there other replacements?

Any ideas on how to make them? I have made backplate gaskets but never a copper ones.

I had bought what I thought where 074 head gaskets from SIG when they had stock but it turns out they were for the .15

However, lite Machinces had stock of the 074 head gaskets not too long ago. and I post details in the above noted thread or simply go here:

I just checked and the web site now indictes "limited availablity"

Call by lite machines by phone and order that way and you will get a better mailing rate.

What platform will you be running these engines on? I have thought they might make a good engine for the brodak 1/2a pathfinder,
but i am interested in what other planes would work well with the readymade control-line version that you get with the heli engines.

The Brodak Baby Flite Streak CLP-44. You could use 45 to 50 foot lines and get some nice flying in.

The pathfiner, sure that would work well.

I think a Baby flite streak would be too small it fly very well on a TD 049. A junior FS would be about right I think.

I am building 2 flying clowns. They fly well on a weak 09, so they might fly real good on a norvel. It should be a lot lighter. The advantage is when I go to a contest, I can fit another airplane in the car and fly another class (OTS). I think the old 33" midwest warbirds or magician 15, lightly built would be a gas on this engine too.

I think a Sig Akromaster would be fine too if you keep the weight down.

A real awaking for me was to put modern 20's and 25 on older 35 and 40 sized designs. They flew so much better. I think the 074 makes as much power as the old fox .15x (not the new one).

Uliner, you could try various thicknesses of solid copper wire that you cut and loop into the proper sized ring,
and then simply hammer on an anvil or flat hard surface. You should be able to eventually produce an acceptable
thin circular copper head gasket. Plumbing or heating and refrigeration suppliers might have some suitable sized
copper ring seals that you might try to hammer down to the proper thickness. Naturaly this is a last resort solution
that involves trial and error, and patience. Luciano ///

I just got a promotional email from Mecoa saying that they were selling out the last of their GWS engines (gosh too bad). But they also included listings for short and long plug adapters for .049 to .061 and a long plug adapter for the .074.

Did they, by any chance, also happen to mention a great loss in performance with these adapters....?
