I have a second version 73" Yak. Right now I have an OS 160 in it for power. It is a rocket in the air. I would like to slow it down. What would be a good engine to change to?
Gas?
Glow?
4 Stroke?

I am NOT trying to offer a SA answer but if you cannot accomplish your goal with throttle then you could try a Saito 180 and prop it for its torque curve (that is where it should be run anyway)

It will still be overpowered but the torque characteristics make it more easily handled.
While I've not owned the 160 most two stroke glows come on their power band "right now"______while the Saito four stroke is much more "proportional" if you will.
The "right now" aspect makes throttling a bit touchy.

I've left out the YS choices as that is an entirely different animal. It is one that I found I didn't care for, even though displacement for displacement it easily puts out more power than any other.
The Saito is quite user friendly and very forgiving of bad set ups. That is something that the YS is far less tolerant of.
However if you are after max power output per engine displacement size there simply is no other choice in four strokes.

You can check the video on Quique's site as he flies that A/C with an Evolution 26 gasser and makes comments relating to the comparison to glow______I don't think you will want to go that way.
In conversations with Quique (no I am NOT close to him) he supports the Saito 180 for the 73" but calls it "rocket power" level.

the 160 is the best of the best on that plane. the left stick is what controls how fast it goes and also prop selection. i like a 18-6 Menz or a xoir. not trying to be smart but throttle control is key and you can never have to much power.
