ok so i have a hawk pro with an os 32 it gets up to speed fine but as soon as i take off the engine seems to loose power there was that 3rd hole in the fuel tank that i filled with stuff and there is no leak but why does it lose power i don't think it is the mixture because i have been adjusting it and it didn't do anything really. so i put it back to where it was working great before.

Do you have a pitch gauge? That will tell you if you are trying to pull to much pitch. The other thing is what is the throttle curve? What fuel and what is the nitro content?

All of these will effect the way the motor runs.

On the O.S. .32 the low end needle has a large effect on mixture all the way to about the 3/4 throttle. Open the low end needle a tiny bit.

Get the motor started and idling, pinch the fuel line. How long does the motor run?

Now, I could be wrong here, I have not thought about it for a long time. I think the stock setting are, low end 1 1/2 turns open, top end 2 1/2 turns open. I think mine was running very well at 1 3/4 turns open on the high end. I do not remember the low end setting.

Reduce the pitch to -2 to 8.5.... The pitch is too high. Assuming your using stock size fiberglass blades ...

Honestly it sounds like a engine tuning problem to me. Most likely too lean high speed mixture. Also I believe that the fuel tank fill tube needs to be capped, but I have never used one.

The low speed needle is in the middle of the throttle arm. Have you read the manual for the engine? Here is the manual It sounds like a tunning issue. My 32 would pull -10 to +10 without issue.

We need to know a few things.

What glow plug
What fuel and how old
Are you using muffler pressure

The O.S. .32 is pretty much a fuel and forget engine. Sounds like junk in the carb or low end needle setting is off.

It should not run with the needles closed or opened all the way. That sounds like junk in the carb. The high end should be around 1 3/4 turns open. The low end around 2 or so.

Have you tried new fuel, new plug?

when it bogs down, does the amount of smoke decrease or increase?

Smoke decreasing means it is running lean. Clean the carb, set the needles back to stock and try again.

it must smoke ...... smoke is your friend
close the high needle then open it 2 full turns start the motor and turn it in a click at the time it should sound like its 4 stoking you want the motor to sound smooth so only close the high side a click or 2 at a time then spool it again and if its not running rough ( 4 stroking) then you have it . (or your real close).. now tune the low side that will be the needle in the carb where the control rod is located only turn it in a TINNEY BIT at a time and let the motor clean out before you tweak it again you want a smooth idle. it may even have a slight 4 stroke sound that's fine as long as it keeps running once you have that then spool up your heli and it should run great from there just don't lean it to much i have found that if i peek tune mine then then rich en the high 1 to 2 clicks then its perfect. also make sure you don't have tooo much pitch you should have light skids at half throttle and hover just a smidgen over half but some people have a hover at half throttle.

is the motor new or old i had a motor that was 2 years old and run fine and i have a motor that is only 6 months old and it wont run worth a crap and when i took it apart i found that i ran it to lean and cooked it to the point that at idle it was the best that i had but when it got hot and just as i would take off it just wouldn't fly the helicopter so i did the math. to buy a motor or rebuild the one i had and i found that it was cheaper to rebuild and so i bought a piston and ring and a cylinder put it back together it was just as good as new and i have now 5 to 7 gallons of 15 to 30 % nitro and it is still sweet and smooth running i guess what i am saying is you might want to do a rebuild on your OS you can save some $$$ if you get the piston and cylinder that isn't ringed. i hope this helps you.
