I'm going to be building a 100" wing for the first time in many years. Does anybody have suggestion of a good covering material to use. I've heard Coverite is real good but if there's something better or lighter, please let me know.! Thanks

Monokote is garbage my opinion, very hard to apply. Use Ultracote, very easy to apply with low heat.

jz,
Any of the films (monokote, ultrakote, oracover, etc) will do the job if you follow the instructions. Each of them seems to have different heat settings for optimum covering. Personally, I like Monokote for a sailplane, especially the transparent colors. They seem to stand out better and brighter. Monokote is also pretty tough and stands up to coarse grass and scrub plants well. The only exception I would make would be on a scale sailplane where I'd want a fabric finish. Then I'd use solartex. In the end, it's your money, so it's whatever you want. Just remember to have fun.

I have used Monokote and Ultracote. Both work well. Ultracote seems to be a little easier to se around complex shapes. But on a wing either will do just fine.

HA! Well, that was pretty blunt! I happen to agree though.

There seems to have been some formula changes on Monokote in recent times (look for another post on that one!)
Monokote is a little heavier and a little stronger. Sailplane ... go for less wt.

Yes dear, I did glue my hand to the airplane to keep from dropping it.
