Hi, I've been out of this for 20 years.
I pulled this sailplane out and I'm surprised its still in pretty good shape.
I have no paperwork on it, It was called Segata or Sageta ???
Does anyone recognize it? I would like to put an electric motor on it.
prefer to chop the nose off and put it there but could use some kind of above wing pod?

I built it in the early 90's

Havent found any info about this plan on the net. I'm not sure of the spelling..

I don't have any info on it, but it's a Sagitta.

Here's on thread on it:

DON"T CUT IT PLEASE!

HI, and nice glider. Sagitas go for tall bucks on ebay and are quite desirable. You can do a motor Pod electric or glow fuel that simply fatens on under the wing hold down bands. This way you have the best of both worlds.
SIG make a nice mount for an 049 and you can still get those on Ebay for reasonable $. They will take it well up into thermal finding altitude. Look for one with the bigger tank such as a Black Widow. And then buy a replacement head so standard plugs can be used.
this 049 method is MUCH lighter than electric.

Welcome back. The RCMMagazine website has plans for both the Sagitta 600 and 900 for sale. Here are some pics for comparison.

duh. My bad. Looked like the 900,

The plan numbers are;

First one is Plan# pl-831 for the 900
Second is Plan# pl-836 for the 600

Chopping the nose off will be my very last resort..

Again, I have no instructions. this plane seems very heavy. its about a 6' wingspan so I think its the smaller version, the 600?
What would the flying weight be on a plane like this? I seem to remember I was a little tail heavy on the build and had to add more nose weight.
That was 20 years ago though. only had 6-7 flight on it.

Would an .049 gas pod above the wing get this thing airborn?

I'm trying to avoid the hassle of a high start.

I'm picking up a Spectrim DX6i tonight and will get a 2nd receiver for this plane. patch a few holes in the wing covering and I'll just need a way to get it into the air.

A question on the elevator?

Due to the way it mounts I get a little wobble on the elevator. how much wobble is to much?

I'll post a close up pic tonight.

Sure got the size wrong, hehe. Sure looked like the 900.

As far as powering it, wow I wouldn't. All you need is a small hill somewhere and an afternoon breeze. If you look around (Ebay online hobby stores) you can find the power pods.

As far as cutting it, I agree with OzMo Nooooo!. Sounds like you need to get a new flying project started. Possibly a powered plane. Check the build forums, or Ebay there's a lot of low cost options. I just paid $30 for a 60 sized plane off craigs list.

The wobble problem does not sound good at all. If the wobble is up and down, you could possibly lose elevator control at high speed. What is used for the control linkage? Maybe something came loose.

I have to look closer when I get home. I believe there is some play where the elevator pivots on a shaft that goes through the rudder.
If I grab the ends of the elevator I can move them up and down like a see saw. I'll check how much it moves tonight.

I do have a couple other projects going.

I'm finishing the build of another 20 year old midwest Aerostar trainer that is about 90% done. Just bought a TT .36 motor.
Hopefully it will launch next weekend?

I also picked up a lama coaxle rotor Heli I've been trying to hover around the house.

The "see saw" play sounds like the bearing in the stab had worked loose. No good. But won't be hard to fix.

Good covering scheme.

I have the Sagitta 600. Love it!

All up weight of my 600 is about 40 ounces. Flies wonderfully off a hi-start or a winch. I have never tried it on the slope but I am sure it would be great there too.

If I was going to put a motor on mine I would put an electric in the nose. Probably a brushless in-runner with a gearbox. this would fit in the long thin nose better than an outruner. Something in the 175 to 250 watt range would be great.
