Has anyone installed Hitec HS-65 in there king ll for the cyclic (3 servos) and was it a bolt in installation or does a bracket need to be made. I saw this on ebay and I would like to upgrade to something thats not as sloppy and failure prone as the esky servos.
Seems the price is right too, much better then the LHS

3 HS-65hb servos for less then 70$ including shipping
Notice these are the new ones with the center hole mounts but I wonder if the holes will match up with the Esky mount holes??

The HS-65HB servos are $24.00 -$25.00 all over the place. It saves a few bucks.

The HS-65's are taller and a little bit bigger. It is not a drop in fit but with a little trimming and fitting they do go in. I have some digital servos I ordered from Hobby City. I am sort of impressed with them. They are $15.00 a piece and work pretty darn good. I have to trim the mounts and put a spacer on top for the two rear mounted servos. I also had to put a spacer on the side mounted servo to move it farther forward. The digitals I have are the same size as the HS-65's. They work so much better then the 55's.

i'm still using stock esky sx, but used my last spare...now that the esky analog is being discontinued for the digital version (which supposedly has problems), i'll be switching to fut 3114s, which are supposedly drop-in's...ken

Notice the small size, I believe that their was a mounting problem, powerwise and speed are great but moutning it??
Actually I don't think the S3114 is a drop in as I started to go that route and just left it at using the $15 Futaba S3114 for a strong, fast tail servo. Also you will HAVE to change out the control arms for the Hitec HS55 horns as the stock Futaba ones are far too weak (thin and narrow) when you drill them out for the Esky links. I know as my rudder horn showed signes of failure due to the screw weakening the horn on the ball link and had to be replaced and finally I fitted the Hitec ones to solve the problem before I had a flight failure. I think the cyclic load on that tiny arm will be too much for it as it can't handle the rudder load to begin with. As long as your running a analog gyro, bang for the $$ its hard to beat the S3114 for a rudder servo, $15 verses $$ for a dedicated rudder servo. ($50 and UP) That high priced servo for the tail is most likely digital and that means a digital gyro so now your into $$$ for the set.
Rudder has to be fast and strong and that rules out most of the other servos in that price range. Most speed and torque specs for servos are shown at the 7.2 volt not at the 4.8 that were using.
I looked at several No Name servos and don't really see any advantage to most of them, not much faster or stronger then the stock analog from Esky. I also heard the replacement Esky digital has its own problems, But thats a wait and see thing

I am using these on cyclic servo
This one on the tail

It is not hard to fit them in place. I cut the lower rear servo mount in half, made a spacer for the top out of sheet plastic, longer screw. The front cyclic servo has a 1/16th inch spacer to move it forward a little. The picture is not really clear, but I think you can see they fit pretty well.

Shipping was 14 days from order to door step.

YES!!! they are for the most part a drop in fit (mine were the HS-65MG, same just metal gears). I just got done doing it and I just needed to do some custom filling on the anti-rotation bracket ( I have the Xtream one). You will need to do some customizing on the linkage, but the stock stuff should work. I picked up some 2mm threaded rod parts for an Associated car (part number #21502) and just used the stock ball links and made links with balls at both ends. If you go this route get a 2mm tap and drill set and tap the black plastic link so that you done snap them. I did have to mount the link further out on the servo horn but I can adjust the throw on the radio. Jeff
