Default Cajun Gator 2008 Race/Meet

Cajun Gator RC Airboat race/meet planning for this fall. This event is open to "ALL" RC Airboaters, we have classes from beginners to the all out open hard core racers. The Airboaters that have already made it to a Cajun Gator event know about the fun and excitement, You guys that have not yet made it to a event, get your boat ready, it is worth the drive.
Not only will you pass a good time, and get to meet with some great people from all over, you will get the chance to learn a few tricks of the trade on getting your boat to perform better. RC Airboat events have the best sportsmanship competitors that I have ever met.
Race rules/regulations and safety will be explained before races start.
You will also be able to find some super deals on airboats, engines, and other parts for rc airboats.

Looks like it all most time to run some new designed boats in an official race setting with lap timing, measured speed trap for top MPH and drag race timing ET & MPH for each lane. All will be timed with a PC and printed out. Hope to set some new records at a M-AB-A Meet. There will be at least 4 from North Florida (NFMABA) that will be there.

The MABA what is it about?
The MABA is a small organization for RC Airboat racing and meets. It is a Non-profit organization, meaning that dues or fees to enter your boat into a race/meet is to cover the cost. Cost includes but not limit to things such as trophies/prizes, equipment that is needed, track equipment and other supplies. The labor of setting up and hosting race/meets is all donated time, from members and others that are willing to help make sure that everything goes as good as possible. Some of the trophies and other prizes are donated from local businesses or folks that simply enjoy the hobby of RC.
MABA race/meets are for RC Airboaters to get together and race their boats. The races are broke down into classes depending on drivers skill and boat size. The day before races start, there is open water. Open water is for testing your boat, to insure that everything is set correctly and also for just getting out to play around. Race days are for organized races. At the ends of the race day, the water becomes open again. At the end of the last race day, awards are presented to the winners, top drivers and/or any other special award to be presented.
The MABA has standard size tracks that are posted on the MABA web site with also race rules and regulations.
We at the MABA know that a lot of work is put into building a RC Airboat and we try our best to reward builders and drivers for all of their hard work.
The MABA is a growing organization that has tried many different things to make the sport as enjoyable as possible, and will continue on the search to make RC Airboats the most enjoyable RC sport. In the beginning a meet was just a group of guys hanging around running RC Airboats. We found out quickly that this is not the way to go. With rc air boaters driving hundreds of miles just to play around just did not feel right, since that was something that we could all do with out long drives. Just was not much reward. Then we started with a set track and too many different classes. This was fun and enjoyable, but just not enough boats to fill each class as needed, made it to easy to win a trophy. Here lately we have grown into a organization with set track sizes, more boats in each class, lap timers for set time records. Our next goal that we are working on is getting set up with a milling clock to start the races, lights to start the drag races and a time trap for setting speed records. Most of this goal is well underway, in which some of it will be in place for the next race meet.
The most important thing is that we all have a really fun time, we get to meet good people and we always take at least one night to get together for a great meal and visiting. (and to brag about our lucky wins) The MABA we are just good ole guys and gals with a passion for rc airboats and having a good time. If you are not sure about our race/meets take some time and come check us out, just make sure to bring your boat, because once you are here and you see that we are about passing a good time. You will get your boat out and pass a good time with us, even if you do not have a boat, chances are that someone will have a extra boat for you to run. If your not into racing, just hanging around watching is also more than welcome.
The MABA takes a part in hosting races, but you do not need be a member to race at any MABA race/meet event. Everyone is welcome.

Race Date October 24th 25th and 26th
Location Hwy 90 east of Jeanerette La.
Working on a new race start. Basically we will have up to 6 boats per race. The boats will be in a signal line, slowest boat starting the race with the next faster boat, up to the fastest boat starting last in line. Once the first boat crosses the start finish line all boats will be allowed start racing regardless of track position. This is the basics. We are trying to look at everything to make sure this would make for a fair race. Boats will be matched by time, we have not decided on the exact time gap. We are also looking to raise the number of laps for each heat from 5 laps to 10 laps.
More information will be posted when available.
We are hoping to see more of RCU members racing at this event.
This race meet is open to everyone that wants to race or to just hang out.
Good luck

You delivered that to someone? *jealous sneer*

I'd bet he was real disappointed, it looks like you threw it together overnight.

Have fun and post pics and video.

Been extremely busy for the past 4 weeks. Building boats and making repairs on a few. I have 3 new designed gassers that will be running. Tomorrow we will set out the buoys, and get some practice running in. At the moment we have 4 new guys that will be racing, hoping to be able to give them enough driving tips and pointers before race day.
Its looking like this sport is growing well. Thanks to the friendliness and the sportsmanship of RC Airboaters.

Took the new hulls out yesterday. Weather was perfect cool with a very lite breeze. The new low profile hull is a beast, this boat loves speed, the faster you run it the better it handles. The new fiber-glass hull ran very good, nice high speed turns with a very nice drift in the turns, quick on the straights. The .46 nitro ran very well also, looks to be one to look out for. Had a couple of the new guys there, did not take these 2 youngsters did not take long to get the hang of the boats. They made me really work to keep up, then my boat was faster, just goes to show, its not how fast the boat is, its a matter of just how well you can drive.
We do have enough new drivers to make a class not counting the 2 new ones I just talked about. I have spoken with a few people that feel that they could not race because of their skill level, this is defiantly not the way to think, we are not pros either, just guys getting a fun sport going. Its all about having a good time, get your boats and your field gear together and come pass a good time racing with a bunch of good ole guys and gals.
