can you list what actual align upgrades yo have used on the exi450?

my upgrades include:  align metal tail case, align metal tail blade grips,  align boom, carbon fiber tail push rod,  align 325D carbon fiber mains,  align tail rotor blades,  align flybar paddles, align main gear, align carbon fins.  the rest is stock EXI 450.

13T Pinion
Exceed RC Alpha 400 motor
Exceed RC Proton 30a esc
3 T-pro SG-90 cyclic servos
1 EXI D213F tail servo
Detrum GY48V Gyro
325mm Fiberglass Blades

Still deciding on a radio and what type of battery to get, haven't dialed in anything just installed electronics so far...

lol...havent seen this thread in a long while.   

Nice looking bird there Stone. I think one of your flybar paddles is facing the wrong way. lol.    A nice transmitter is all you need.   a dx7 would be a good choice,  or the dx6i for beginners.   I have the dx6i myself and will be upgrading to a JR 9303 2.4g in the near future.

Lots of peeps is getting their batteries at hobbycity.  great prices. 

Couple of things to mention.  The idler pully on the rear tail case is not needed.  It just causes friction. Most have them removed.
Make sure you use thread locker on all screws going into metal.   screws that go into plastic is self tapping so no need for loct-tite.

Status: offline 		Yeah I havnt adjusted anything yet, so the paddle is, lol. I'll check out hobby city for batteries. I've looked at the dx6, I'm still real new to the hobby. What's a major feature of the 7 over the 6 besides 30 model memory? That's all my LHS guy could seems to mention, well that and the obvious 7th ch

Status: offline 		the extra channel is a big plus,  but there are other features that's available on a 7ch over a 6ch.   the dx7 for instance has a much nicer feel on the gimbals plus it looks alot more professional than the dx6i.   But if you're on a budget there's nothing wrong with the dx6i.  that's why I had mine for so long.  

If you do decide to get the dx6i and need help with the setup just let me know.   I can probably set up a v2 on the dx6i with my eyes close. lol

Status: offline 		I also have a Dx6i and works great with 2 elec 450's and 1 nitro 50 size heli. The plus for me to get a Dx7 is with my nitro bird I can add a governor on the engine to keep constant head speed.

Status: offline 		i am currently using the dx6i, even though i like the feel of the dx7 a lot better.. i glanced through the programming on the dx7 and it looks a little harder than the 6's.. i am waiting on my swash leveling tool for my 500 so i can get it setup right.. i still love my little 450's for sure and will continue to beat the tar out of them.. from what little i have flown the 500 i like it.. seems more stable.. i was just having a problem with the blade tracking constantly changing causing massive tail kickout. i have been flying the 450's using kong power lipos, i just swtiched over to zippys (flightmax) and will never look back.. the wind sure is wipping today so no flying.. my 450 needs a main shaft replaced so i better get that fixed so i am ready the next time the wind settles.. glad to see this thread is still alive..

You need to locate your elev servo in a diff manor.

You want to make sure the linkage rod is parallel with the main shaft. Try turning the servo over (rotate it 180 degrees) so the servo shaft is located on the aft side of the servo with the servo arm facing toward the front of the heli. Also, most people (based on the Align manual) mount the elev servo on the port side of the heli (other side from where you have it now). It doesn't really matter which side you mount the servo on but the linkage(s) being parallel to the main shaft does matter...A LOT

Thanks, I flipped it 180 and adjusted the servo horn. Looks much better now.

I'm looking at buying the Exi 450, I was going to get it from Xheli but I saw that Nitroplanes has it for much less! Well 10dollars less good enough for me

Anyhow, I have a Belt CP, someone mentioned the Exi450 and my I am amazed at its capability and price! So wondering how my setup will work...

-Base Kit
-25a Esc

same motor from belt cp (is that doable teeth ratio and kv? I know it's faster than the recommended alpha motor by like 500kv)
-4hs 55's 3 for swash 1 for tail
-Electron 6ch or Neutron whichever is cheaper
-1800mah 20c also from my belt (a turnigy replacement)
-Same esky gyro, unfortunately I cut off the tips a while back like the male and female 3 wire plugs, so I gotta figure out which is which somehow and rewire it, but with that setup how will I do?
I think that both Belt and Exi are both 450class? So the stuff should be pretty close
My Belt needs parts for replacing, like the flybar center case, and also main rotors, and then I need the 4 servos, a 25a esc and what not
So when someone mentioned the EXI it got me looking, also I'm looking to put on training gear just for safety, good idea?

Status: offline 		you should be fine with that setup.......But.......  the hs55 will strip gears on the lightest of crashes.  I recommend the hs65mg's on cyclic.

you will need a faster tail servo than the hs55.   go for something digital such as futaba 9257 or align ds520.  

a 35a esc will be better,   I'd ditch that esky gyro and try something else.    check out this gyro from hobbymate for cheap http://www.targethobby.com/hobbymate-avcs-headlock-gyro-p-4161621.html

or just pony up the cash and get the one of the high end gyros available.

If youre just starting out and still early on the learning stages than stick with what you have now till you're not crashing so much.  
Doesnt matter how good the airframe is if its got junk electronics it will fly like crap. IMO

Status: offline 		Pk that sounds great, actually at the moment my budget is quitelow, and uhh I don't even know how far I can go with the stuff, but I'm glad to know that there is the exi out there. Currently I do not have a job, got school and sports (17 senior) very busy hardly any time for a job but after sports ill get me a job then I'll take a look at the helis again, I've got 4 Site electronics I have to finish getting, I have the esc and motor gotta get batts abd small probably blue arrow servos.

Ill see about fixing my belt cp its a great helicopter

Check xheli again. They are selling the plastic version exi450 for only 37.70 instead of 39. you mentioned being sold by nitro. Xheli offers an aluminum version for the $49. Plus xheli sells parts etc for them . Hope this helps Just Plane Mike

Status: offline 		I feel like I'm conjuring up the dead with posting in this thread, but I didn't want to make anothe. I just bought this:
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll  As my first 3D heli, I have a little experience with coaxial, but not much. I plan on getting training wheels (balls) for my 450 and the Flight Sim. What I wanted to know was if 1) this is a good starter heli and 2) should I buy an EXI 450 Pro and just toss this one?

I am really unsure of the differences in the two versions.
