If I could use the 11.1v 1800mah lipo battery in both my BeltCP and my HBKV2 with a 30 amp ESC and a 3100 brushless motor that would save me money on buying two different size batteries. Is anyone else doing this?

You could do that till your 3100kv dies at some point and change the motor. That way you can stay with 20c batteries and have a lot of them.

Cool, i haven't bought the 3100 motor with 25amp ESC yet. if that is not the ideal set for the battery, can anyone provide a linky? Maybe I should do something like what nuttcaze suggested somewhere, buy a 30amp ESC or something. Anyone, have a linky to a set of those that will work on a HBKV2 and an 1800 lipo?

T hanks!

would a 30 amp ESC work with that motor and an 1800 battery?

....I do not agree with having to modify the motor mount that is already a pile of cow dung to install a 3800 from Esky! Actually, I don't agree with installing Esky as an upgrade to begin with. If you are going to be upgrading, take the Esky parts out of the equation. Husko, talk to Rusty at Castlerock Hobbies first. He carries a great alternative to Esky motors that won't break the bank. Danlion is the name of the motors. He swears by them. I run a Hyperion 3700 that drops right in. Kinda pricey though....

No disrespect to the Esky loyals...Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me for installing Esky aftermarket!! Hehehe

Peace,

Z

sorry but I have to chime up on this, generally wouldn't say this but Do Not use Castlerock hobbies, I placed an order on the 24th of last month (2 servos, 2 motors [that were suppose to include mounting plates and motor pinions], Hobbywing Esc and some belt guide rollers for the HBK II [which incidently don't even have bearings, just ride the screw]) and still never got my whole order, initially 2 servos, and 2 pinions and 2 mounting plates for the 2 Danlion motors I bought were missing from an order that took a week to go halfway across the country, after pm'ing Rusty he said he'd send the missing stuff but since the servos were on back order I had to wait (for the life of me I can't understand why he has a site that lets you order stuff not in stock) anyways another week passes before I get a small package that I have to pay shipping on only to find 1 motor pinion and NO motor plates (of couse at this point I wasn't surprised) pm'd him again saying to just forget it I'll take the loss and chalk it up to really really bad customer service, and in the intrest of saving other potential victims err customers the same frustration I posted a youtube vid about my experience, and I guess after some getting some hate mail he pm's me back saying I will indeed get the rest of my stuff and blames an emplyee for all the probs (I don't care who screwed up, if the owner can't take care of business then why bother, but at this time I had removed my buyer beware youtube vid [was even called childish for try to inform others of my experience, ha]) and so week and a half later suprise suprise no parts, now LUCKILY I had long since placed an order with Ka-Planes and even though I placed it after I ordered from castlerock, I still got it before my package from castlerock (even though Ka is farther away). Ka saved the day (really did cause I had 2 helis down due to stripped servos and a bad motor on one) so Husko you can take all this with a grain of salt but this has been my experience with that store. And not to mention I found the same Danlion motors for wayy less from hobbycity (yeah I got ripped off).

Again this has been my experience

oh and heres some links for you

30a ESC from Hobbycity - $9.25 https://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6460&Product_Name=SuperSimple_30A_ESC
I have two of the card programable ones (which won't program with my Hobby wing program card) and they work great, using in my HBK II's
or
30a Hobbywing ESC - $39.95 http://www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/13661
What I use in one of my Belt CP's, sweet esc
With either of those esc's you'd be able to use whatever motor you wanted (within reason )

and a for motors you can get lost in all the different ones, but I'd try this one for $13, some guy has one in a Blade 400 and loves it, worth a shot for the price, I have 2 brushless' coming anyday now, can't wait to try them
https://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5499&Product_Name=Brushless_Outrunner_TowerPro-A2409-18_1000kv_/_180W

another one worth trying for $17.55
https://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6316&Product_Name=Turnigy_E500_6T_4000Kv_200W_Heli_Motor

Hmmm (yes I know they're out of stock right now, but some will understand what these are )
https://www.****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5246&Product_Name=KD_KA450H_3200kv_brushles_Heli_Motor

did you buy like 6 motors for your helis nuttcaze lol. I know I'll get there eventually lol. Anyways, I need to buiy a new BL motor too, which one would you suggest, I want it as strong as 3900kv ESKY and can use 30A ESC 20C Batt, and mount on to the HBK2 without any modification.

I can't be certain but I think other then enlarging the hole for the pinion (sometimes the set screw for the pinion rubs the frame a bit, can be trimmed easily, or just let the motor run and retighten the srews after not the best way but works on mine ) the thing I've been doing is using washers so that the motor housing clears the part of the frame behind the motor, and they don't need to be big washers, other then that I've just bolted them on.

Oh yeah - program card $12 http://www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/6082
