Greetz all

Son has a Lama V3 and its all good (tough little sucker except for the skids). I have noticed when I fly it and push it trying to get banking circular flight etc. On a few occasions the flybar either pops out or the blades make contact with (???) and It will just wad up in the air and drop like a stone. I would like to move his links out on the servos and get a bit more cyclic out of it for him but before I do that I want to eliminate this problem. I noticed the stock blades flex a great deal at full throttle.

Is the better blades a good fix for this problem and or putting paddles on instead of the weights or??? What r some good mods to do for this coaxial.

I don't think paddles instead of flybar weights would do anything (or it might cause problems). Helis which use flybar paddles have input going to the paddles to use them to control the main blades. On the Lamas, the flybar weights just keep the upper set level due to centrifugal force. With nothing to control paddles, my guess is it would be a mess (just a guess, though).

Have a look at other threads about the Lamas - there are several blade options that are better than stock. I have the harden blades (don't seem to flex as much as stock, and are definitely more durable) and the "turbo shaft" which prevents loss of the flybar and blade strikes. I'm happy with both.

There are the cnc upgrades which the center shaft is longer so reduces the blades smack considerably. Don't buy the cheapies, I did, because they are crap and worthless. Maybe its time to upgrade to a bigger heli??? All of Esky's birds are entry heli products and so not the greatest of quality. But the upgrades make them a lot more fun. Just be a bit careful about which source you are buy'n from. AVOID anything that is in a baggie or has a fakie kind of cardboard header, if you are buy'n Esky upgrades. I've heard good and bad about Xtreme, mostly good but then just about anything is better than stock.

hope that helps a little

happy fly'n

In my experience when you have blades that are very hard and tough to break, when you do have an accident then the blades maybe ok but other parts will definetly break. The helis have a lot of torque, even the Lamas. When the blade hits something that torque gets applied to everything downstream until something else absorbs enough of the force and things come to a stop. That being so you are possibly looking at more expensive damages other than a cheap set of blades. Bent shafts, stripped servos, stripped main gears or broken blade holders and more.

These blades are probably a great deal after you have been fly'n for a while and suffer minimal crashes. But, if you or your son are still smack'n things then I would say stick to the softer blades and upgrade some of the other stuff to make it fly a bit smoother. Blades can be bought for about $15 for 20 pair so it makes it very cheap to replace blades. Forget about trying to fix them either, its def not worth it.

Hope that helps

happy fly'n

I have the full airy-harden aluminum upgrade and it is awesome! The turbo shaft is a great mod for the lama.

There is a guy here in Tennesse that sells the extended shaft in 0.5cm, 1cm, and 2cm lengths. This super cheap mod will completely eliminate your blade striking problems. Ernie is a great guy to deal with.

What's the difference in shaft lengths, as far as performance goes? Wouldnt it just be eaiser to get the Turbo kit for the V3 instead?

Hey JD, I couldnt really tell you. Only because I've never flown a Blade CX. But I will tell you that my Lama V3 is a blast. I've had so much fun with it that I couldnt wait for the one battery pack to charge and fly, so I ordered 2 more. Now it's pack after pack. Once I'm done with all three packs, (we're talking almost an hour of flying) I'm ready to call it a day or take a break for a while.

But yeah, SO much fun. Very happy that I sold my Mini LST and got this heli.

Is there something about the C count on lipos that will give them longer flight times? Like a 20C over a 12C?
