3 for 3 -> fiberglass edge, over or under monocoat? (5/22/2008 10:03:34 PM)

Hello,
My three year old seamaster ARF has the side walls separating from the bottom hull. I want to use .75oz cloth with 30 min epoxy thinned with alcohol to cover the bottom and bring the glass up the sides approx one inch for strength and water proofing.

What works best when making the transition from the monocoat sides to the glassed bottom. The monocoat under or on top of the glass? I plan on painting the glassed area.

thanks,
rcs

I would put the Monocote OVER the glass. It will help to seal, and hide the seam line! You may have to find an additional way of gluing the Monocote to the glass.........maybe some 3M77 spray adhesive.

Just my $.02 worth[:D]

Don't use 30 minute epoxy for this. Go get the Finishing Resin. You won't have to thin it, and you'll get a much better finish.
