I got my GPS today but I also had an outpatient surgery on my foot so it's going to be a few days before i can report my speed results.

The major contributing factors for my choice was as mentioned a few pages back - my LHS's recommendations - as well as what I saw on youtube.com Almost every vid of the SV I see if flip. I dont know if this is driver error or the nature of the hull itself.
I'm glad I got the FT because I like the looks of it. Aside from the problems with the RX as I've mentioned previously everything else is working fine.

Have to admit I really want to get the FE Miss Elam now too - really want to get a hydro!

Not flaming anyone but I'm really surprised that there isn't more going on with this boat. When the SV was out this long there were threads runing on best props, cooling improvments, ideal setups for speed. I'm just shocked that something similar hasn't happened with this boat.

yea, i am pretty surprised as well. i guess people just aren't talking about it much. for awhile this thread had kinda died too. Also, Grimracer has been starting threads and promoting the sv27 and helping people out. i wish there was someone as as cool as grim at proboat that would hop on the forums and help people out with their products.

I saw the fastech for the first time in person a week ago, and i gotta say, im really impressed. I think the quality is WAY better than the Sv's. Maybe im just getting sick of using the sv, or maybe its how poorly the sv's are built(glass wise/cracks), but i know that a fastech will be in my hands in the future.

Its nice to hear a complement on the quality, everyone was saying that it would be bad because its Proboat, but it seems they learned(a little bit).

I have not bought anything brushless yet cause I can't make up my mind between this boat and the SV.
I want to same speed as the super vee but with a deeper vee that will handle a little chop.

I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents here. I'm new to boats but I have just Ive had the Formula Fastech for 4 days. Have had it out for 2 runs..

First run was on a big flat lake with a friend who bought it the same day I did, and my brother with his Traxxas Villain EX. The other run was yesterday was in saltwater with some waves and lots of chop. Racing it around on the flat lake was alot of fun. When racing against the Villain the Villain will always get the head start but as soon as the FF gets dry it takes off. I found the steering abit akward at first. Didnt feel it gave "enough" But easily fixed by moving the steering arm to the outer tip of the servo horn.

Second run was at the beach. (Im abit of a thrasher) Small waves and abit of a chop. I was worried how it would take waves compared to my brothers Villain. (Unfortunately my brother lost his propeller 2 seconds into the water so couldn't really compare them side to side in the waves...) My worries on the other hand where blown away. This thing is awesome in the waves. I didnt flip it once! I did on the other hand "submarine" it a few times at full speed. Windows, steering wheel and trimming still on. I seriously doubt the BL26 or the SV could handle those rough conditions without flipping. Gonna go for another run either today or tomorrow. Bringing my camera/videocamera with me. See if I cant get some decent video of us wave jumping and upload it.

On a final note Im wondering if anyone has done a steerable outdrive mod on it. Like the BL26 has? Would that improve low speed handling?

Most are happy that PB finally put a static outdrive on a boat. Way more reliable and faster due to less resistance in the driveline.

I would go for the SV27 for the simple fact that there is more info and aftermarket products for tuning. I own one, totally tweaked with all the mods and recently went to lipos. Yes, the SV will flip at times, but you learn how to drive it and it happens less. If you follow the advice from seasoned SV owners in this thread, I guarantee that you will be happy with it. I love mine and never had anything go wrong with it.

Well... If u like racing on a flat lake yes the supervee probably is a blast. I on the other hand like to see the thing fly thru the air and succesfully land. I think if your into bashing abit there are better alternatives than the SV27. On a side note. Went out thrashing again today and the "receiver/servo/esc" box that Proboat builds is pretty flimsy.. Sides cracked when i pushed down to secure the lid. (fixed it with some tape and silicone) Then after taking a bad spill the lid top broke off with the antenna tube in... Gonna try to make a custom rather than buy a new. Maybe out of a Tupperware box?

tupperware or if you have a plastic box like from a servo or something - the HiTec servos come in a plastic box.
You can also use plasti-dip or liquid tape like you can get at Home Depot or some hardware stores, maybe NAPA might carry it.
I use liquid tape for the steering servo in my elec Sea Master II for the steering servo and use it for the axle mounted servos on my crawlers. I dont think you'll want to use liquid tape for the RX or ESC though - stick with the balloon setup for the RX.
I'm looking to remove that box setup and go with something a little more permanent. Right now I'm trying to sort out a set of a1123 cells and once I've got that set up it'll be on to the elecs.

True, the SV is not made for bashing over waves, but a little chop will really make it fly. If I want to bash, then I drive my nitro monster truck.

Well sure that makes sense, I'd take out my EMaxx too, but mine will sink. What kind of floatation are you using?

Pool tubes and miniature ping pong paddles on the axles seem to work well for me I forgot to mention off the water . Seriously though, someone should start experimenting with different props to really tweak some extra performance out of this boat. I be it would really move.

I'm glad you knew I was joking LOL seems lately some are soooo touchy and have lost their sense of humor. This is supposed to be fun!

I got excuses like dirty socks! Actually had to have an outpatient done on my foot 1 week ago today and I'm finally able to get around again (nothing serious).
So hopefully the wife will let me shorten up my honey-do list tonight and I can get the boat back in the water tonight. And it has been booooring as poop sittin on the patio running the emaxx, the ax10, my clod based super-comp gi joe jeep, and various other SLOW land vehicles!!

Got a few things up my sleeve for this boat - just slow getting it together. First off I'm hoping to get some times tonight with that GPS I got and then I've got some a123 cels being worked on. Need to get the charging issues worked out.

Will keep you guys posted!

Wouldn't buy, use or recommend any Proboat product, having owned a TC31.
They look great, but they are crap, junk, flims, garbage.
Don't waste your money. Even when you send it back you get a hard time, and
then something else goes wrong.

Avoid Proboat like poison and piss.
Just my opinion.
