wanted to join in the conversation.. I've had mine for about a month. I have been trying to fly heli's off and on for a couple of years.. (would quit for extended periods of time 'cause of crashes/frustration.. very hard to learn).. but this heli has shown me the way. I also have a 22E and 22D.. I don't have much luck with them.. the 22E is so fragile. the 22D doesn't fly very well at all.. This little guy is a blast. I am able to hover really well now.

I have a question.. how do you tell when the motors are starting to go out?.. I've had mine in the air about 60-70 times and by the conversation, I can tell I'm on borrowed time..

Every now and then I still buy from Chinesejade and the shipping does take about 12 days unless you use EMS which is too expensive. For some strange reason, US mail is twice faster than HK mail. I've been using wowhobbies.com and the shipping seem much faster, so I pre-ordered the 4G3 from them. When I recently order the 4G3 spare parts from wow, I forgot to tell them to hold the orders so they can ship them with the 4G3 heli next week. I called them the next morning and the 4G3 parts are already shipped out to me. These people don't waste time at all, but they should have put the 2 orders together! Except for wow, I don't think any of the vendors have the 4G3 parts posted yet.

What an Idi...t. I live in an apartment complex in Plano and we only have a wall of small mailboxes, so usually when I get stuff they put a note on my door and put it in the reception where I can pick it up. Not sure how it works with a post office since I have never been in one. Anyway, I will figure it out tomorrow. I have the whole week off so I am going to fly till my fingers hurt

Hopefully I get my 4g3s before Thanksgiving. They cleared customs Friday. That will be real fun

All,

In which position do you fly with your tail? I spent a couple of hours discussing torque with a couple of younger engineers at work since I it is more than 10 years I left school and totally forgot the math. We could prove that the slight tilt at hover is due to the tail rotors lower position compared to the main rotor. To counter act this a little the tail can be rotated right. I have been experimenting by twisting the tail and adding weight but it doesn't really give me the effect that I want and that is to have the heli completely level at hover. Is there anything such as a spoiler that you can add or something like it?

I have been doing a lot of CCW circuits and want to get them as smooth as the CW without having to fight the tail gyro so much.

/Hans.

Great, then you will be flying in no time

Got most of my stuff today: 2*4g3s and the Mia parts I ordered. Not sure where the stuff from Wowhobbies ended.

I will try to post some pics on the 4g3 thread.

Wow, looks like everyone else is in the same boat here... Waiting for PARTS!!! LoL

Just to add to good people to buy from: I recently put an order in to Kory over at Micro Flyers (on eBay - http://stores.ebay.com/Micro-Flyers ) and WOW is that boys' shipping FAST!

They are in Arcadia, California and I'm in Colorado - shipping took 2 days with a flat rate of $5 for anything you order from him! He informed me that he has had some trouble with Walkera getting him his order of parts to be distributed here in the states, so his stock is kinda low right now and is missing some parts that he usually carries - but he told me to hold tight because he'll be getting them back in soon!

On the flying side... I am truly having a blast with this bird, being able to fly it almost anywhere due to it's size is a BIG + ! People at work really get a kick out of it too, I'll buzz around the office with it and freak people out - blowing their papers around on their desk from the rotors kicking down some wind... LoL, it's pretty funny
I finally went through my first motor too... I couldn't believe how easy it was to replace it! I ordered 4 more from Micro Flyers yesterday - hoping he'll be able to get em' here before Thanksgiving, cause I plan on going through @ LEAST 1 more over my 4 day weekend!

... Have fun out there Pilots!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Swivel, thanks for the info. It is a good idea to share experience with the different dealers out there.

It is a blast flying. Especially the air time it will give you. I crashed it 3-4 times yesterday alone practicing tail-in semi-funnels and pie discs. My favorite is the nose-in pie disc and it almost does the job it self. It looks so cool when getting it right

Even with two new 4g3's on the floor, it is the 4#3B I am flying the most I really, really love it

Hans, could you go into more detail about what you mean by hovering level? front to back or left to right? what would you want the spoiler to do. not sure i'm understanding your previous post.

Hi Joizeex. It is the tilt to the right that whole heli does when you hover in one spot. What I am trying to figure out is a way to counter act this so that when you hover it is completely horizontal.

Basically, the problem I am trying to solve is that the heli goes much better around CW than CCW. I don't have that problem with the larger CP helis. I am thinking that by making it 100% horizontal when hover it will solve the CCW problem. I have been thinking about adding weight, move the battery and lately to make a stabilizer in a form of something like a tail fin. I have spent a little time experimenting by adding weights to one side and it helps a little, but it will screw up CG. I have played around with twisting the tail rotor, but I don't like the way it flies when there is too much angle. The Air spoiler or stabilizer idea is just something I came up with one night I couldnt sleep and wondered if anyone else in the world had tried it. The idea is to use the down wash from the main rotor to counter act the tourque.

Just a funny idea, nothing else.

/Hans.

Hey, I'm new here, and somewhat new to helicopters. I just got my 4#3B yesterday (from www.hobby-wing.com, excellent service), because I wanted something small to fly anywhere, but something more functional than a Picco Z. I've been attempting to fly it around for about four battery packs now, and I'm having a really good time with it. I'm just starting to get the hang of tail-in hovering on it, and have had quite a lot of crashes in my rather confined living room. I'm amazed at the durability! I just keep crashing, and nothing breaks. I'm going to take it to a gym later today, so I should have a lot more room to work with. This heli is BEAST!!

Welcome to the forum Jeremy. we hope that you'll have a lot of fun experiences with your new toy. it's a really fun and cheap way to get into the heli hobby. before you know it, you'll be buying $1500 nitro heli monsters lol.

i see what you're saying Hans. maybe you can put a very thin and light plank of balsa or plastic across the skids, sticking out only on one side to catch the downwash. i'm not big on fluid dynamics, so it's all up to your experimentation.

Man, these are so much fun. You just plug in the battery and fly. This is the heli that can give you all the stick time you need and you can re-use that experience on the bigger helis later. This is by far my favorite.

Exactly what I have in mind. I think that I will do a little experiment over the holidays. I finally got all my parts from Wowhobby. It turned out that they had actually already arived a week ago but I never got the note from the mail man I am planning on making a brushless conversion and use the Mia stuff I just got to build like a super version of the 4#3B.

One strange thing happend. I got the "spare" 4#3B that I ordered from Wow and it seems to have a stronger main and tail motor. I have to trim the rudder all the way left. Usually I fly it pretty much in center. Even close to the end it almost went up like a rocket (as much as it can) on full throttle. Maybe I just got lucky with that motor?!?

Hi there HansV

You seem to have a lot of experience with the Walkera 4#3B.
I just orderd mine from HeliPal shuld arrive next week! Walkera 4#3B Metal uppgrade X-mas package.
I wonder about the flight sim cable that is supplied, what sims do that cable work with?
Allready flown FMS for 3 years and Realflight about 1,5 years with my TX, JR X-347 and smartpropo.

I got the chance to fly in a huge gym yesterday, so I tried forward flight. I flew into a dividing curtain, and chipped a tooth on the main gear. I also Broke the canopy, but that was a really easy fix. Has anyone else had issues with the main gear, or is it just me? I have a spare on the way from WowHobby.

I have crashed alot with it when I first started flying the walkera 4#3b, and never chipped a main gear, only things I have had to replace are main motors, tail motors, tailbooms but I upgraded mine to aluminum and main blades(rarely), parts are so cheap I have so many spares I could bulid another 4#3b. This heli is such a blast
