I will get some photos soon  for you.Engine is mounted  1/2" forward of firewall using original zenoah plate.Re drilled the mounting bolts & trimmed side  so as to offset engine to the left 1/4 "  this puts the prop fairly close to C/L .
Was hoping not to cut cowling for carb but looks  like it will be too close to inside of cowl without spit tube  .Will make my my own muffler and exit out the cut out notch at rear of cowl.
My wife has borrowed the camera so no pics for now.Working on on modding the retracts now .Having a **** of a job getting one leg out think the springs  caught up ho hum ARFs.

Thanks for your reply .Where does the carb  sit in relation to the the original plywood firewall plate (being rear mounted carb) ?

Status: offline 		hey guys I just maddened my p47tonight I have a dle 20 in her and am also running eflight 60/120 etracts in her
how did you guys go with the cg mine was just in front of the recommended cg but still feels slightly tail heavy in flight I'll drop a bit of weight in the nose I think
well she is pretty easy to fly and very light I only had a 14/9 three blade prop that she flew rather well on but I'll read through to see what two blade you guys are using and as for trimming she only needed two clicks up and two right to fly hands off
was rather impresses with the roll nice and smooth and faster than what I thought she would be was happy with the way she flew on the dle which had about four minutes running when setting up the throttle before she flew and she handled it great
the only issue I had wad trying to land her I dropped the flaps and came around on final and she would not decent so tried again with out the flaps took me about four or five attempts before I finally flew her down on to the strip
with the dle I was able to put around at just quarter throttle and she just nudged around has really great low speed capabilities but when she did stall she did bite me bit I was just floating around by that stage and she recovered quick when power was applied

Status: offline 		well just had my second flight wow she is sweet to fly and the dle 20 is amazing. put a 16/8 two blade on her today heaps of power and flew for nine min then after I finally landed had only used about a quarter of the tank unreal my only issue with her is still that she doesn't want to land she just floats around then tip stalls I had to actually fly her down on to the strip again which I am not used to how do you guys find yours when landing also don't use flaps either

Duncan - any pics yet? I rashly went ahead and bought one of these Tbolts. i already have a G26 from a previous plane that I sold, and I held it up to the engine box- looks pretty good except for the carb as you said earlier. And since I have the G26 I will use this engine in this plane. The nice thing is that World Models build their planes pretty strong so it will carry the G26 or the dle20 or the dle30 ok- although I always add reinforcements to the firewalls of my arfs. Any of these engines will fly this plane very well- although of course the DLE 30 is the most powerful.
I will use either Spring Air or Robart air up/spring down retracts in mine - which I also have NIB. Depends on which will fit better in the wing, and i will beef up the retract mounts.

Maiden flight done last Thursday went pretty well .C of G was a little aft elevators were touchy  and landing not so smooth but OK . Moved 2nd batt pack forward 3' flew today much better.
Zenoah running well didn't miss abeat.Managed to get the carb in without cutting cowl.Removed spit tube & installed a CRRC 26 carb isolator which is approx 8mm thinner . This gives you 10 - 12 mm betweeen cowl and carb inlet . Also made my own muffler which exits thru the cowl flaps near the waste gate outlets.Looks good not having to butcher such a nice cowl.
More flights  planned this week while the weather holds getting alot of winter rain this year  making for soft runway conditions.

Sounds great - why do you say the cg was aft?- because the elevator was touchy? Was the cg at their recommended location for the first flight? Where is the cg now? Did you add weights to the plane to get the cg where you had/have it?

What elevator throw did you use? did you use their recommended throws/travel? if not how much did you use?

Who did you buy the crrc 26 carb adaptor from? Part number? - (Iam lazy you see )

Thanks for yur help. I have two ther planes ahead of this one in my build list so it will be this fall before I put mine together, but I want to get the pieces ordered now so I will be all set to just put it together when I'm ready.

Did you use their retracts?

To answer some of your questions. CG is now 5" from LE wing have moved battery pack forward 3 "  the muffler is  abit heavier than my original also.
Elevator throws 18mm down and 22 mm up   to help prevent nose overs whilst on ground. Expo -35
My first P47 did not have 2nd batt pack it flew very well and stable so I know how these  P47s should fly.
CRRC carb isolator ( no part # ) I purchased from a model shop here in NZ $ 2.50  it turns the carb thru 90 degrees so as to give direct throttle
linkage.
I have also modded my carb removed choke(plug holes) and bell mouthed the inlet .I mess with model boats  this is pretty standard
mod for getting more performance on the  original WT 644 carb .Just use a perpex sliding plate to do the choking at start. The WT 257 carb comes standard with no spit tube and is good for G26  some say better than WT644 . I have also lighten the piston by 6 grams ( underside of crown ) this helps keep vibs down and better rpm.
Having trouble uploading photos will keep trying.

Status: offline 		hi friends, been reading the thread for awhile and looking to purchase this arf from an LHS. anyhow, I reckon from the builds that some nose weight is needed, was planning on either a dle20 or dle30. Would the dle30 be overkill for this and I should just go with the 20?

DLE 30 fits prefectly as you can see in my pics. Plenty of power and the CG adjusts perfectly. I didn't add any nose weight.
DLE20 I think is too small for the Jug.

Status: offline 		raibalboa - thanks for the tip on the dle30, i was leaning towards that engine instead of the 20. awesome pics on the fullscale!

btw - i was planning to get an EPO 47D from FMS (i'm just in love with how the 47 looks), and was researching on scale stuff so I came across this video on youtube.

Check it out, it points out how to correctly take off, land, etc a jug. And to think I was thinking greasing the runway was the correct way to do it! Hope you guys like

Duncan/Bluebird - very nice photos - Have you flown it much since your previous posts? Any more adjustments or fixes needed?

I'm sort of creeping along with my other planes so this one is still in the box. I've been working some long hours and haven't gotten too much done on the other new planes ( 2 mustangs, one is a World GS mustang that is recovered as Cripes-A-Mighty 3rd that I am re-engining with a DLE30). But this fall I plan to push them through the "assembly line".

Have been putting a few hours on the Jug and all going well so far.The silencer bolt kept coming loose but that seems to have stopped 
now .Removing gasket helped too.Have also installed 17x 8 Xoar prop which goes well and keeps RPM and noise down a bit 
I am happy with the power which is adequate  for loops etc. A DLE 30 would give you more vertical performance for sure but I will 
stay with the Zen as I like the solid mounting and flywheel mag. Also will be installing Li Fe batts for my radio and servos getting tired of
charging NiMh s they seem to lose so much charge over just  a few days  ie .1 volt /day from full charge.
Will have to get the guns and decals on it now.
