What motors did you get with 3.3mm shafts? Not sure you'll be able to get 3.3mm pinions that'll fit HL gearbox without relocating the mounting holes.

My mistake it's a 2.3mm shaft...the Pinion I believe was smaller than it should be...

I might have some plastic ones to work for now until I get some good metal ones.

I think i know what motors Turbo has, I have them too if we can get them to work they will work perfect with the Heng long Boards and be very powerful! Turbo we need to find someone to make us some custom pinions of take the shaft down some?? Or we find a pinion that matches this motor them use the motor with a gear reduction TU?? I got too many project to really focus on this but i bet I have the same set of motors! Keep going Turbo I do know a machinist up in Washington lets see what he says, get back to you!

I don't know where they're measuring from, inside or outside of teeth? HL is about 7mm. A 9T listed thickness as 5mm and diameter 7.3mm.

James,

I have picked up several different type of 8T pinion and the ones you've identified are the only ones that I've found to work as they are not much smaller in diameter than the stock 10T pinion gears. You will still have to bore out the opening for the motor and motor mount holes (and possible shim the motor a bit for the pionion to correctly contact the frist drive gear. I actually installed some motors with a 8T pinion ( with HL metal gears)last night for a new project (a Tamiya Jagdtiger) It has metal (REAL HEAVY) tracks, so it needs the torque to turn. Took the chasis out this morning and it ran great on the grass.

GREAT NEWS!!!!
Thew new pinions and motors did the trick!!!

this thing runs much better than before and it's about time!!!!!!

my only gripe is the gear sounds louder at times...maybe it's just tight?

more later

That's great. Did you have to modify the motor mounts on the gear box?
