I think I'll upgrade the tail to a decent digital servo and keep the stocker as a spair because I'm don't have the budget yet to pay nearly 100 bucks for a set of 3 servos... If all else failed I could just take my HS 56MG out of my RC18T and just buy 2 more of them for now...

Hey Doahh,

Well, the stock servos are a crap shoot, basically. I have heard some people with 100 flights on the stockers with no issues. I personally had one fail on my 3rd battery pack. Sometimes, if/when they do fail, it can be catastrophic, there have been reports of loss of control mid-flight, so keep a close eye on the servos, especially at first.

Mine did something very strange when it failed. The elevator servo got "stuck" ... it lost it's centering, and when I went to take off with it, the heli sounded very strange, a loud swooshing noise. On closer inspection, the swash plate was tilted backwards, very far I might add....had the heli taken off, I might have ended up with a face full of B400 rotor blades!! Keep in mind, it flew perfectly at the end of the previous battery.

I'm in no way trying to scare you, just to let you know the reality of the situation. I have a new B400, and have so far had no such issues with it, so far, using the stock servos. I upgraded the above mentioned B400 to JR servos shortly after that incident.

You should be OK with the stock servos for a while, most people are not having the issue I did, but just keep a close eye on them, don't want to see you get a bad start in the hobby!

Good luck, have fun, be careful, and keep us posted!

Glenn

Doahh,
I bought a blade 400 back in April and I say the stock servos are ok until you crash. I have crashed three times and two were really bad (chain link fence at full speed). The servos do not hold up well. I put some Hi-tec 65s in mine but also stripped 6 sets of gears on those also. I have since bought metal gears and spent around $150 on the 4 servos with extra gears. The do make the heli more responsive. I have also spent over $200 in parts from the three crashes. Things to have on hand:
feather shaft
main shaft
tail rotor shaft
tail boom
extra linkages and ends (two different parts)
Hardware set (all screws in case you loose one)
extra skid struts
flybar
flybar paddles
extra bearings (get aligns more per pack)
blade greps (sell out quickly pick up extras)
blades

I am all about supporting your LHS, but this site is about 25% cheaper even after shipping. So if you are doing a large order I go here. I still use my LHS for servos, random parts i need today and advice, but this site is a good back up too. I have spent over $300 at my LHS in just parts and support for this bird:

Enjoy!
