I just bought a new Lanier extra 330 87" with a DL50. I had our club president (a 24 year old firefighter here in Fort Smith, Ar and obviously an excellent pilot) do my maiden for me. Apparently the person that built my plane did several small things wrong that caused the aileron to flutter and fall off during mid flight at about 100 ft and about 500 down wind of the end of the field. He LANDED IT with no damage, all i had to fix is the wing where it flexed and the aileron, I was Impressed. No pictures are necessary as the damage was minimal. Anyone else seen anything close to this "almost a Bill Hemple moment"?

ive had 3 similar incident one where an aileron came off a greatplanes extra 60 sized arf from the 90's i was a rookie it crashed... recently i had half of my rear stab on a seagull harrier 46 3d and was barely able to land it, and i had an aileron on a nitro plane extra .50 size come loose from the servo horn and was able to land safely

I had a GP super stearman that had motor harmonics problems..before we got it straightened out it chucked the upper left aileron twice ! Its never a good feeling when you see parts coming off your plane in flight , ha ha

I had a linkage break during heavy 3D on my little Great Plane Reactor electric. Turned around and landed it. Surprisingly it had great control with only one aileron. It's now in pieces from something else I cannot even remember, but I do need to get around to get another one, I loved that little plane.

Yes it was, and the work was done very poorly, the servo box was not strong enough, had just taken off and executed a mild banking turn when it happened

Friends second flight on a 90 Showtime did the no ail, or elev, dealy. He used the Hi-TEC reccomended servos I think they were 80oz. @ 6v. and he had 6vlts. But he had just flew and landed we looked at it pretty good made sure everything was working usual stuff for a new plane. Took off slight bank and his right ail. and right evel. servos stripped. Down it came. Ruint is all i can say. Motor and electronics, were ok. But the servos were stripped. He bought a Funtana for the stuff and the only serov from the wreck he used was for throttle and it stripped. He checked it good before putting into the funtana also. Just a bad set of servo.s It seems. All were new. Also 80oz. is not enough for this type plane. I would say maybe 120oz would be more in order. At least he said that is what it called for. lol
