Set your throttle trim so it doesn't move forward or back with the throttle in neutral position. You shouldn't hear any electronic noises coming from the esc/motor either.

jeppe317 I actually have more money into it then I care to admit somedays....could have been more though, but I'm cheap so I buy what I can used most times...unless it's on sale...

spektrum was a deal at 15% off with a second recieverm permax(old motor fav around here before the neu) got used...EZrun was $40 with the programming card...

so is it safe to say a ~200.00 investment will turn this stock vendetta into a monster?

Well, $60 for steel cvds, $40 for ball diffs, and $60 on a medusa motor, $50-$80 for a controller, and $15-$35 on a lipo. I would say $250 is a good rough amount to put into the ultimate detta.

To make it really fast and cheap you could do $60 steel cvds, shim your diffs, use a turnigy motor (comprable to ammo) for $17.95, use a $30 Turnigy 35a speed controller (same as ez run), and a $20 polyquest 1600mah 32s lipo (same as flightpower, enerland celled) lipo. It'll basically be a monster. Should be the same as a ammo/flightpower setup. It would cost around $130, $180 if you got the ball diffs. Expect to pay more though for new tires, pinions, broken parts (shouldn't have too many) and a charger if you don't have one already.

If you could find a lipo that would fit with a higher c rating then 20c, it would probably be better then the flightpower/polyquest pack. Those ratings are pretty true. Can someone tell me the battery dimensions again?

I actually have not put my steel CVD's in yet...and I'm still running my original gear diff...my previous equip set up: 8cell IB1400 batt pack, quark 33a pro-car ESC, Permax 400 motor, and a spektrum radio...Only thing on the drive train I've changed was the mod the cvd's to a treaded rod, and throw a 19tooth pinion in there....other than the tires for the surface I run on...

If you are gentle with your throttle and make sure everything is lubricated the detta is damn sturdy...then agin I did double up my shock towers because of Artistic high speed flippage...

Don't worry,, it was the best motor at the time. Just know for that money now days you can get a new Medusa or used Neu. I seem to see a lot of used 11xx series neus around there... Just don't get the 2.3mm shaft!

The only motors as of now I would recommend now would be the turnigy from hobbycity as a starter motor (ammo clone, under $20), then the medusa as a real quick motor, then the Neu for insainess. I'd also get a lehner if I could find the right size. Those things scream at high rpm!

If the speed controler is the same as the ezrun, I reccoend buying it here since it's cheaper

What's up fellas. Its been a while.

Anyways, I've been driving my detta's again and recently saw that Dualsky has just released their new GTS series 1700mah 35C (60a) cont lipos. I've been using the Dualsky GT 1300mah 25C lipos for over two years now with fantastic results, so I have very high expectations for this new lipo. I know that the Flightpower 1600 is the reigning king for detta's right now, but I'm pretty positive that the new GTS series will outperform it. I've got one coming just to test out... hopefully it can live up to its claims. It will be an extremely versatile battery if it does.

That dualsky battery looks pretty dang good. The flightpower batteries aren't bad in the sense that they are very high quality, live up to their specs, and have a very flat discharge curve; but the actual specs aren't too good. Only 18c and 1600mah. The thing about the detta is finding something that will fit as all the good packs that I can find are around 100mm long, which is too long for the detta.

I've heard dualsky is a pretty good lipo brand so we'll have to see how these new packs perform. I bet there will be a MUCH noticable difference over the flightpower.

In some other lipo news, the cell supplier (enerland) for flightpower, hyperion, poly-rc etc. has been replaced with cells from china. These cells are rated higher then the enerland cells and seem to be the "next big thing". The new flightpower EON-X series and the Hyperion G3 series are some of packs using the new cells. I think the Neu packs use them too. With the 30c-35c continuous discharge, they also feature a 5c charge rate. These lipo cells beat the a123 cells at what they are good at. a123 cells also have a pretty lazy curved discharge curve and the c rating is a little different. Instead of the cell sustaining that rate, they just survive the rate; hence the sub-par discharge curve.

These new cells should have roughly the same price as the old flightpower packs. The hyperion packs will be a little cheaper. Unfortunately, it looks like there is a 1200mah pack then it jumps to a 2200mah pack, so when the 2200 pack is too long we'll be stuck with the 1200 pack, which is a little low on mah. Maybe we can stack the packs and use them in a parallel?

You can still get the enerland cells (same cells that the old flightpower packs used; i.e the 1600mah packs) in polyquest and enerland packs. I see the polyquest packs on hobbycity.com for $20.

I noticed that too. I'm tempted to get them, as I have a local distributor (I live in SG). However, it would have to be a special order as he doesnt have stock of them atm.
I also have a mini e-revo, but I don't want to have 2 sets of different batteries. Long story short, the Dualsky GTS batt would work for both my detta and mini e-revo
I will prolly get them at the end of next month, if I have surplus savings.

On a seperate note, I managed to kill an apogee LiMn pack hahaha. Was doing airtime with my detta, and from my numerous nose in landings, managed to 'shorten' the pack. It seems the cells got squashed length wise (i.e. length got shorter by a few significant mm). The pack didnt survive (puffed up on charging) but my detta walked off all the bad landings Gotta love a bullet-proof detta.

word, right now my stock detta has the sidewinder and ammo slapped in her, could you point me to the set of cvd's for $60? I will be looking for lipo in the near future (woot @ new cells being tested)... im quite frusterated as i have lost 2 of the 2.6X10mm flat head standard thread screws, amy LHS has dropped all duratrax parts and cars (said they didnt sell, perhaps she is TOO bulletproof) and to add iceing onto the cake, i still havent upgraded my cvd's. thus, my pocket of dollars will go to the drivetrain, and soon, a lipo charger! >=- ]

Check out this thread; it shows a die-hard a123 fan getting lipos for the first time. There is a lot of a123-lipo comparison in this thread - http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21631&highlight=voltage

Read at least until the first post on the second page, that should get you enough info. What I was trying to say is that when you apply a load to an a123 pack, the voltage drops more then it would for a lipo pack. The C ratings are also somewhat different, as the a123 is how many c you can run without damaging the packs and with lipos it's how much the packs can sustain without substantial voltage drop.
