Hello all,

I just bought a used 30 size Caliber from a guy who doesn't know anything about it except that it isn't very old.
My question is - How do you tell the difference between a Caliber 30 and a Caliber 3 ?

Thanks

Thanks,
It looks like the Caliber 3 has the flybar setup that the Caliber 4 has. I definatley have a Caliber 30 then.
I wonder how long that they had made the C 30? Or when did they quit?

The Caliber 30 has been out of production a couple of years now.

It's a better (more capable) heli than the 3 though.........

Yeah well, here in S.A. we never even got the 30... Very few importers of Kyosho products here so I got the 3, not bad but get used to that flybar, it's Kyosho's latest claim to fame and it aint going away. Open it up and toss all the balast out of it....

Hi Machdiamond ...

Haven't opened up the flybar. What was the result of removing the balast out of it ???

The guy in RC HELI magazine really liked the 3. He took the weights out of the flybar and installed a better muffler and said that the heli really came alive then.
I just want my 30 to be stable to learn with, no 3d.

Hi wilco3

Removing the weights from the flybar decreases the gyroscopic force generated by the paddles (or in this case, the flybar!) and is thus less stable. This principle applies to all types of flybar/paddle arrangements. When I say less stable I actually mean more maneuverable. This increases the cyclic (aileron/elevator) response of your heli (roll-rate). For normal hovering about and plain forward flight you don't need to bother with removing the weights but when it comes to loops and especially rolls you will want the response just a little more crisp. I have found that my heli is just as stable in the hover without the weights as with them as the flybar still has a lot of aerodynamic stability. I still run the stock muffler - I am sure a tuned pipe will make a good deal of a difference but I would rather spend that kinda money on my Freya or fund my turbine project!
