Hello

This is the project i am working on sice last 3 days. I thought it would be cool to make a smaller version of ECHO(http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655878). The plan was simple - scale CAD drawings, remove few bits out of it add few others and put it together

Most parts are made from thin 0.65mm carbon fiber laminate and plywood. Tail is driven by shaft, CP bell-hiller rotorhead, CCPM 120 swash, most of moving parts on ball bearings and fully servicable mechanics.

Target AUW weight is max 55g, with 3s180mAh battery pack, 9g brushless motor, custom 2g digital servos and other lightened components.

I hope to maiden it in few weeks and then try some acro.

I also realized that this is the first time when ECHO leaves my PC/visuals and exists in reality That makes me very very happy!

Tail and main rotor units are complete, only electronics is missing.

As You can see on pictures i'm using ball bearings in main and tailgrips. The rotorhead design is an exact copy of bigger one in normal sized Echo. Rotorspan is 240mm with CA reinforced symmetrical balsa blades.

It is finally ready for maiden flight

The swash and tail needs lots of precision so i had to add servos with upper cases on, this plus heavier gyro than i planned(logictech 2100T) increased AUW to 60.6g. I also decided to use other, more common tail pitch system than i wanted.
I have yet to make a canpy so temporarily i'm using one from previous project.
AR6100 which i'm using was lightened to 1.3g by removing both antennas, case, capacitor and all pins.

This morning mini ECHO made its first flight after just few jumps which were needed for setting.
I'm very pleased with the results, its is stable, flies great, has a lot of power in reserve and is quite crash resistant(see the video)
Next time i will check cyclic speed and do some climbouts.
