I have Saito 1.80 approximately one year old on a slimline pitts muffler. I've had some problems where I've been flying my plane for say 7 minutes at half throttle and when I've come in for final my engine has quit. This happens when I bring the engine to idle. It has also quit when I've gone to idle coming out of a hammerhead or loop. The engine runs great on the ground with the high speed 300 rpm off the max. Also, when I tilt the nose of the plane 90 degrees up, I get a little RPM gain and when I tilt it down, I get a little RPM loss. I have checked all the lines in the tank and everything is fine. No air leaks or anything. I'm contemplating if the heavy APC 18x6W prop that I have on the engine puts too much of a load on the engine and this causes this problem. At idle, I get a little smoke and at full throttle I also get a little smoke. When I immediately go to full throttle I get a little more smoke and it clears up and goes back to a little smoke. Idle is around 2500-2700 RPM. Using Omega 15%.

Any suggestions???

Status: offline 		Frankie, if 2,500 is as slow as it will idle the LS needle is too rich, lean it until it will idle @ 2,000 rpm. You don't have to fly it at a 2,000 rpm idle you just need to set it so it can.
