I think that every two inches is pretty much standard on fabric wings, regardless of type. I know the WACO's I saw in St. Louis were all two inches on their stitching on the wings. It may vary on the fuse, a bit further apart, because the airstream is not trying to pull the material off the frame (ballooning) because of lifting loads.

I just did a search, because this interests me a lot. I can't find the specific distance for the Cub, but stitch spacing varies with the Vne speed of the respective airplane type. I don't know if this link will come up, but try this, and download the pdf reference it mentions. There are a bunch of diagrams showing how to tie the knots and make the stitches on a full-scale, and it talks about re-covering and not to exceed the original stitch spacing, etc.

Thanks khodges,

Right now Iam ready to simulate the stiching on the tail feathers. Two inches seem to be pretty far apart for them I may just make my own spacing up.I wont be entering it into any scale contest. Its just for sport flying.

You can go 5/8 inch between stitches for 1/3 scale.

I built a Balsa USA 1/3-scale Cub into an L-4 many years ago, 1991 or so, and I measured a full-size L-4 wing. The actual spacing was 3 inches apart so I made the model stitches, 1 inch apart. Also an interesting note is that the stitching on the tail surfaces and fixed fin, are not taped leading edge to trailing edge. Rather, they are covered by small 3 inch diameter circular patches with pinked edges making them look like little "sun" faces. Also not every three inches. I believe there were 3 on each rudder and elevator/stab rib equally spaced and only one or 2 on each side of the fin.
For what it's worth.

I was having trouble with my computer,It depends on HP of engine and if it will be used for Aerobratic. On planes like a Staggerwind the stiching is every 1". On stearmans it is 2" and 1'" in prop blast. BOB MOORE

Thanks for the help.I decided to go with a 1inch space on the tail feathers. The glue on the t-pin trick works really well.
