I am trying to get a new 2300 broken in and tuned. I read through the manual and read a bunch of posts.

I have about 1/2 gallon run through the engine now.

I cannot get this thing to tune out. I have checked the spray bar, opened the high speed three turns, and double checked the o-ring seal between the carb and the engine.

One thing I noticed from day one is that the high speed needle does not seem to turn smoothly through 360 degrees. It is loose, then tight, then loose, etc. Almost like it is bent although I don't see a problem.

I am running 10% fuel.

I would like to get a starting point for the low speed needle (N turns out from closed.

No matter what I do, fuel is slopping out of the carb. I can work on it and get it to run about 2000rpm but it won't transistion to hiigh speed. When you try to open the throttle, it just starts losing rpms. It will recover if I close the throttle. If I coax it long enough, I can get it to run at high speed. Often when it gets to high speed, it runs just a second or tow and dies.

This is my first ST and this is starting to get frustrating.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Wayne

OK, I already went through all that. It does not provide a starting point for the low speed idle screw. I checked the spray bar and it looks good. I have checked the o-ring. I don't see any bubbles in the fuel line. I have changed the fuel line to a larger diameter and I have tried repositioning the fuel tank.

One thing I noticed from day one is that the high speed needle does not seem to turn smoothly through 360 degrees. It is loose, then tight, then loose, etc. Almost like it is bent although I don't see a problem.

No matter what I do, fuel is slopping out of the carb. I can work on it and get it to run about 2000rpm but it won't transition to high speed. When you try to open the throttle, it just starts losing rpms and dies out. It will recover if I close the throttle. If I coax it long enough, I can get it to run at high speed. Sometimes it will run up to high speed just a second or two and die.

I set the low idle right now by closing it and opening it slowly just until the engine starts.

I don't know what else to try except return as defective?

Thanks,
Wayne
