Guys, I asked this in the Sundowner thread and it didn't get a reply so I'll ask again to see if I can get an answer.

I will be putting in a Saito 1.00 into the SD soon enough but right now I am stuck with a Magnum .70 4 stroke but I will make do

I never really flown a plane specifically made for speed so all this 'propping' is quite new to me.

I just need a ballpark figure on a prop, somewhere to start. I mean, when I'm looking for a prop on my Hellcat I just think, "yea14x8, 15x6, that will do fine" and it is.

These things I hear people going for 10x10, 9.5x9 and so on.

So what should I try to get me in the ballpark please?

Usualy 4 strokes are made for torke, not for speed, saito usualy gets around 10k rpm thats is almost the limit of the engine rpm, even you put a 8x8 you cant get more than 12k rpm.

If you want speed put a OS 91 FX with a 10x10 and then you will have speed, rpm“s, noise, big fun.....
Just my opinion.

Yep, point taken but that's what I have to hand.

A OS 91 would be good but I don't have one to hand

I just thought someone would have a rough idea on the sort of prop for the Magnum .70 that I have just this minute installed in the plane.

....you are going to be very disappointed in the performance of the plane
with that engine. A 12-7 prop is about all it will pull. You'll get about 60
MPH out of it.

Seriously, that is fine for now.

I just loved the looks of this plane and wanted it, even if I didn't have an engine that would do it justice!

I'm pretty much built so I'll make do until I get another engine in then I'll have to get another plane to take the .70 4 stroke

Thanks guys.

Just build it and fly it with the .70 up front.

The plane will fly great........ and that is the most important part....

Bob, That's the plan.

I just wanted to know the best prop for the job.

I have a few so I guess I'll experiment, part of the fun anyway. The plane is just so beautiful to look at, guess I was seduced It's sitting behind me, on the bed and it looks fast not moving.

BTW, I notice you let 'The Stig' fly mine, thank you (pilot figure)

Sorry Panzered, I dont have a .90 Mag to check.

There's a Revolver thread in the ARF forum, and one of the guys has a saito .82 turning a 13x8 APC and he radar'd his plane at 113mph on the flat. Confirmed by doppler/video. That's about 40% faster than the theoretical pitch speed. I say put an 8 pitch prop on that thing that will give you 9500-10000 rpm on the groung and go fly.

how do you guys thing this plane would perform with the recomended electric motor in it? (e-flite power 46) i have never had a speed plane before so do you think this would be a good first speed plane. i am planning on useing the elecric option, or would it be worth it to get the glow set up. and would it be aceptable to use a spektrum DX6 for this plane? i know the manual says not to, but i have flown other planes up to 350+ feet with no problems.

thanks
